New skylight installed
Got the new skylight from the mothership. It’s much stronger and looks better than the original. The old screws were rusted and a little hard to remove. Once the screws were out the old skylight came right off. The old gasket was crumbling. Cleaned the frame. Sat the new skylight on the frame and doesn’t fit WTH. Read instructions says may need to bend the frame. Carefully bend the frame until the new skylight drops in place. Make sure the gasket is even all the way around. Drill six new holes and screw it in place. Looks much better and I’m sure it’s more watertight. The old one had many cracks around the edge. Before and after pictures.

Did this a couple years ago after my second or third old skylight fractured around the screws and seemed to me like it was about to blow off in a good wind. I put the new screws in at slightly different angles to give them a bit more bite on the frame. No issues since.

This blog post helped me visualize the process and gave me Steve’s instructions in advance leading me to feel confident that I could do the job.

The new skylight is 100000% better than that old thing. Congrats on your addition.
