I understand that people have widely differing criteria and constraints, financial and otherwise, when looking for a pre-loved LD, but I'm surprised that Pat Macias's 2007 RB (listed in the "Classifieds" section on this board under the ad title in the heading of this post) is still available.

I suspect that potential buyers may be put off by the mileage figure, but I suggest that a "seeker" may want to look beyond a single number and consider the total package for overall value before dismissing a higher-mileage rig.  Although a rig with more miles may offer less surface appeal than one which has fewer turns on the odometer, a well-maintained and diligently serviced V-10 can remain "good to go" for many miles after 100k! The Ford maintenance schedule lists V-10 services up to 150k, and there are plenty of well-maintained V-10s that run well over that mark.

As ever, YMMV, in every sense!  ;)

This is so very true!  Actually, I had just mentioned this mystery to my husband, as we have the same model, only a 2005 and with only 16,000 miles.  Low miles are always suspect, too, but we keep it in covered storage, and with a close eye on things, taking her on mini-trips often enough to keep the gears well oiled.  We have it at our house for a few days, and have sometimes just gone out there to sit and enjoy its gloriousness!

We were just on the cusp of purchasing a 95K miles-on-the-odometer, 2010 Class B (asking price is $54K, but negotiable), and were not overly concerned about the mileage, per se.  But upon quizzing the current owner, he had not done maintenance issues that I would have expected at 50K or 60K, although he said he had done all of the fluid changes, etc..  It didn't sound as though he had even had it inspected for issues that may pop up during those first 100K miles in any vehicle.  I wasn't prepared to take on the ferreting out and possible repair, or experience the unexpected failure, of the components that begin to require attention at the 100K mark.

A personal visit, accompanied by a professional inspector, would have been comforting, but I was not prepared to go to the East Coast, which brings up the spectre of . . . well . . . The East Coast, and the many ways that humidity can really put a damper on things (pun intended).  The rig had been in New York state all of its life.  Vehicle life is (in my opinion) definitely impacted by having been on the East Coast, or anywhere there are salted roads, and salty air!

Decided to hold out for a West Coast unit.

141,000 on our 2000 and it runs like a top.  My good friend specializes in e450’s and explained there should be no real issue getting 200k out of a class C.  Yes they are heavy and strain the chassis/drivetrain but there’s a reason they didn’t build the coach on a minivan chassis.   Our plan is to use it as a weekend warrior and take a few long trips a year, no doubt at some point the engine/tranny will give out but it’s actually much easier to put a new ticker in a well maintained RV than it is to find a well maintained RV with low miles for a good price.

Pat's 2007 RB may have what *some* consider high miles, but this rig has been meticulously maintained with nary a scratch or boulder bite on her inside or out!!!!  I'm not sure if Pat has mentioned in her ad comments, but the rig's miles have been mostly "highway" miles from traveling back and forth from west to east coast on several occasions.  Plus it's never towed, and she recently replaced the spark plugs.

This positive discussion, a separate topic from the Classfieds forum, is certainly OK and hopefully will help Pat sell her LD. We are simply trying to keep the Classifieds forum as uncluttered with these kinds of conversations as possible.
