Exterior Laundry Drying "Gizmo"
Hello All...particularly to those who have clean laundry!

Has anyone found (or made) a satisfactory wet-wash/towel & bathing suit laundry set up that fits off the rear exterior of your LD?

I've seen two at Camping World, neither of which seems to work with our standard LD ladder and bumper. 

Would like to be able to dry towels, etc., from the privacy of the LD rear!

Hi,   I would love to see others outdoor drying racks also.  
We have two of these.
Franklin Brass FBDPRH5-MN-C Fbdprh5-Mn-C Double Prong Robe Hook, 5-Pack,...
They are inside our shower, mounted just under the skylight, on opposite sides.  I sewed button holes into the corners of our towels and we hang them across the shower.  No clothespins needed and they dry as we travel. I also keep a couple of small tension rods just under and inside the shower curtain. They can be moved up and down and hold lighter items to dry.  Everything drips into the shower so no mess.

Laundry lines are a hot topic for us.  Why is America so laundry line averse? Many parks specifically prohibit drying clothes outside, other do so only after clothes are hung. We had to watch a camp neighbor remove all her laundry under the watchful eye of a US Park Service law enforcement officer. Not a high point for either of them that day, I bet. 

I think the aversion started in subdivisions trying to be “classy”. 

Anyway, we are devoted to not using energy we don’t need to, and clothes that smell good without the use of chemicals, so we hang laundry when allowed on a line between the arms of the awning, and to protect those easily corrupted we hang underclothes inside the LD, where there is no danger of others seeing them. Other places we dry laundry- sheets look acceptable on a line strung between posts or trees at the beach, disguising themselves as sun shades.  Towels on a line seem acceptable anywhere. Shirts on plastic hangers seem to look natural too. 

So our laundry gets hung in small groups, in separate areas, with as little visual impact as possible, so we don’t attract the ire of neighbors easily offended by clean clothes. One of our criteria as we get near to laundry day is finding laundry line friendly camps.  Usually places without the sobriquet “Resort”, and with a population of permanents is accommodating. 

To us, one of the better pastoral views is a farmhouse with a long laundry line of overalls flapping in the wind.

We live in one of those communities where drying clothes outside is frowned upon, nay prohibited, by the "Association." However, we knew the rules when we signed on so we comply.

We also like to dry our sheets on a line so we hung a line inside our garage.  Guess that won't work on a LD unless you bring the garage along!

I do keep a tension rod in the shower, from which I hang shirts/blouses on hangers.  I also have hung the same on hangers from the "lip" of the cabover bed (in the MB) when we're in a fixed location with the windshield cover in place.

At home we're lucky to have a nice set of laundry lines at the back of our garage which doesn't manage to offend our fellow condo-dwellers. 

Love the smell of air-dried sheets and towels!

We use this.  It works well indoors or out and attaches to cupboards, etc. inside the LD.  The rubber braid is good for attaching articles of clothing without hangars.  We use it on our motorcycle travels which allows carrying less clothes and doing a small wash in the sink basin each evening for clean clothes every day.

When I ride on guys-only trips, I leave it at home.  Take old socks and underwear and wear them until they are done and then just throw them away...

Well, that sure would beat looking at a line with 3 or 4 pairs of oversized fruit of the looms complete with baked on skid marks.

 I can see why RV parks won't allow it.
 Picture you backing in your LD to a pristine lakeside spot. As you slowly admire the picture book scene from the panoramic view out the back..Bam!.. there's Beer Bellied Billy Joe Bob's wife, Madge, hanging out who know's what.

Please! If anyone in this forum is named Billy Joe Bob, I didn't mean you! LD owners are class acts.

Did not have it on our LD, but did on our FT and I suspect you could modify it to work on a LD if the angled back and bumper would need to be designed around.

We got the instructions form the Happy Wanderer's website PVC Drying Rack

It comes almost completely apart for transport and is very lightweight.

I’m not so sure it’s PC to air your “Dirty Laundry” on this forum.

A few months ago while at Serrano I noticed the camp ground host had their laundry airing behind their Class A. Proud as you can please. I tend to hang a towel on the ladder occasionally. No complaints so far.
