I love my redone 92 LD 23.5ft!
Hi all,

I dropped out of sight after I bought my wonderful 92 shorty due to work and health issues.  It took longer and cost more than I'd planned, but I love my little LD. I'm in the process of sorting pictures for everyone, so will have them up soon. In the meantime, here's what I did.

1)Took out overhead mattress (left wood so the bed can be restored) and replaced it with white storage drawer units from Target. They fit perfectly and securely. I filled the closet with the same storage drawers (Andy's great idea).
2) Removed existing couch/bed cushions and wood supports. Replaced with hinged plywood using 250lb step stools for support when beds are down. Using high density foam for beds/couches.
3) Removed all upholstered everything from cornices to plaques even the old gross carpet in the drawers and cabinets. Made copper pipe curtain rods and hung thick upholstery fabric with blackout material behind. Use velcro to keep edges together. Replaced padding in drawers with yoga mat material. Works much better than what was there and I can clean it!
4) Replaced -original- brown shag carpet with wood vinyl plank flooring. Haven't done bathroom or front driver's area yet
5) New steering bearing harness
6) 7 new tires
7) Updated a/c system
8l Mother Ship removed broken swamp cooler and replaced with Fantastic Fan
9) Mother Ship replaced bathroom fan with Fantastic Fan.
10) Mother Ship replaced rear vent with a Fantastic Vent and new cover for front vent.
11) Mother Ship replaced all outside running lights with new fixtures and led's.
12) Mother Ship sealed the roof $1800. Vince said my old girl was in great shape for her age. I did have a leak in the back which the roof seal fixed. Vince said the wood looked fine when they replaced the vent, swamp cooler and bathroom fan.
13) Alignment.
14) Added 12v socket.
15) Portable solar panel
16) 2 new AGM 6v batteries
17) New overdrive switch
18) New Bilstein shocks
19) Got some Vivii motion leds from Amazon. Hang them outside the RV at night when I'm camping. They're bright when you need it.I attached hooks with Command strips in strategic places outside the rv to hang the lights. They get brighter when they detect motion.  I use them inside as well, along with 2 Luci Lights.

Pictures are coming. She's very cozy and comfy. I'm in Joshua Tree right now, heading for friends in Prescott.

Living the dream.😁

I absolutely love my little shorty. I can go just about anywhere. It fits in a regular parking spot, just a little long. I went to AAA to upgrade my insurance before I hit the road and I parked like a regular car! Pretty amazing little rig and the perfect size for Lucy and I. I'm so happy I bought a LD!

I have no issue with Pit Bulls but you need to be aware there are lots of RV parks that will not allow you in with any so called dangerous breeds.

We have only been turned away from one with our doberman. But many list no dangerous breed dogs. We have stayed at some of those but were told if our boy showed any aggression we would be asked to leave.

If you'd snug those front tires right up close to the curb it would be better. And even better still would be to back into the slot and let the rear overhang the curb, that would get you home for sure!   :o  ;)

There is no such thing as a pit bull. Let's get this straight. Gang members started taking two male Staffordshire Bull Terriers (AKC registered breed) ;bunnies in dog suits, and "pitting" them against each other. -They- called them pit bulls. Many male dogs will fight each other as we all know. Why don't you google for "Staffordshire Terrier" and see what comes up? Better yet, why not go to the source (akc.com) for all breed information and read about them yourself.  American Staffordshire Terrier Dog Breed Information

I am so sick of people spreading misinformation about this beautiful loving dog. They are persecuted, abused, tortured and gassed for NO reason. Stop this now. Educate yourselves before you perpetuate the suffering of any animal or human.

By the way, I have yet to be turned away by any RV park, National Park, or Elk's Lodge. If I were, I would make sure that everyone in my network along with HSUS, ASPCA, etc boycotted that park. My girl is a bunny rabbit and makes my neighbor's Standard Poodle look like Attila.

I have done just that at Costco! I need a backup camera though. Took me forever backing in because I kept getting out to check! Love this little shorty! I climbed 4k feet yesterday without a hitch! Even passed a truck hauling hay!

I think what was most amazing was how fresh everything smelled after I removed all the old carpeting, upholstered everything, couch cushions and mattress and washed the curtains. It was remarkable and a relief to get all that dingy old stuff out of it.

I just saw a snuggly puppy, but have learned others' fears are also valid for them.

I brought home a  <1 y/o chow once, because I had a fenced yard & a woman at the prison said her husband was going to put it down (her adult daughter, living with them, owned the dog & the issue was family politics, not the dog).  My 2 y/o called her "the lion dog" & my kids & other kids coming into the yard were fine--running/chasing/tumbling in kid & puppy heaps.  However, I came home one day to find the dogcatcher & an enraged neighbor about to haul the dog off...the across-the-street neighbor claimed the chow had chased his 9 y/o son onto the roof of their car.  The picture that developed was that the dog had gotten out of the yard with my kids at some point.  The neighbor kid had come out of Grandma's house next door to mine, saw the dog, & ran towards home--I'm pretty sure the chow thought it was a game of chase like with my kids/etc., but the kid was terrified on the roof of the car & the neighbor was complaining about me bringing a vicious breed into the neighborhood--I had no idea chows had a "reputation."  We'd not had the dog long enough to be really attached & already had another dog, so I found her another home.  The rest of the picture was that as the neighbor talked I realized they had taught their kids to be afraid of dogs in general with lots of "be careful" kind of talk, though a few years later they did get one of those itty-bitty yappy-snappy teacup critters...

We've had several terriers & chihuahuas in both mine & extended family through the years, &  I've never had such an opinionated/somewhat mercurial personality as my current 4-Legged Alarm terrier mix.  We've gone to the Humane Society classes/to the dog park to socialize/I work with her continuously, but I am always alert to other's concerns & her potential when we're out for a walk/when someone new comes to the house/etc.  Sometimes others don't see our babies the way we do--whether our 2-legged or 4-legged ones.

By the way--what's your baby's name all snuggled up so peacefully in the picture?

Love your story. With all the dogs I've rescued throughout my life, I've been bitten a number of times. People seem to think dogs don't share the same emotional effects of abuse as children do. They expect them to be completely well adapted within 7 days if adoption. That's the same person who teaches his/her child to be fearful of dogs instead of teaching them hiw to be with dogs.

My little girl is Lucy or, as I've come to call her "Goose" "Goosey" "Gooster". 😁 She is my third Staffie out out of the North Central Shelter in LA (Hell on earth there). She was used by gang members as a bait dog. They let other dogs attack her. She was emaciated and shredded. As with my other abused bunnies, it takes 5 years to begin to see healing. She is an angel love, just like the others.

Thank you for adopting.

So, the Gooster is part of the LD redo & upgrade. Did you choose the color scheme to match her?
