Shelf Behind Driver's Seat August 11, 2018, 07:41:38 pm When we are on the road, we like to have a variety of books, atlases and miscellaneous stuff available up front. We put some stuff behind the driver's seat, but invariably there is not enough room, it spills out and we end up with a bunch of stuff on the floor between the front seats. Not having anything better to do, I made some shelves to fit behind the driver's seat, allowing us to have more stuff up front. Since there is nothing between the shelves and the seat back, the shelves are a custom fit. Since I'm the only one who drives, I was able to cut the shelves to fit my standard seat position. I made the whole thing out of 1/4" luan plywood and angle brackets, and covered the exposed areas with scraps from the indoor/outdoor carpet I used to cover the existing factory installed carpet. It isn't a lot of storage, but it will handle our normal volume of "up front" stuff. 14 Likes
