Re: Can't afford an apartment in Los Angeles? Rent an RV Reply #1 – November 28, 2017, 04:24:49 pm Thanks for sharing, Larry. This and other recent articles that have been shared on LDO is a great reminder that there are many who are less fortunate than us. The economic downturn really took it's toll on many. As we count our blessings, let's not forget them as we head into the holiday season by giving of ourselves and our resources. A Pink Floyd song from 1987 comes to mind:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5413ws7HxN8On the Turning AwayPink FloydOn the turning awayFrom the pale and downtroddenAnd the words they sayWhich we won't understandDon't accept that what's happeningIs just a case of others' sufferingOr you'll find that you're joining inThe turning awayIt's a sin that somehowLight is changing to shadowAnd casting it's shroudOver all we have knownUnaware how the ranks have grownDriven on by a heart of stoneWe could find that we're all aloneIn the dream of the proudOn the wings of the nightAs the daytime is stirringWhere the speechless uniteIn a silent accordUsing words you will find are strangeAnd mesmerized as they light the flameFeel the new wind of changeOn the wings of the nightNo more turning awayFrom the weak and the wearyNo more turning awayFrom the coldness insideJust a world that we all must shareIt's not enough just to stand and stareIs it only a dream that there'll beNo more turning away?Songwriters: Dave Gilmour / Anthony Moore 4 Likes

Rent an RV Reply #3 – November 29, 2017, 07:42:24 pm I think that RV fire report that someone posted of the gentleman that passed away when he tried to rescue his dogs was an "urban-boondocker" in west Los Angeles. There is an incredible amount of old RV's parked along the roads out there, in industrial and residential areas.

Re: Can't afford an apartment in Los Angeles? Rent an RV Reply #6 – December 23, 2017, 01:34:50 pm According to this young man's blog post (and the photo), the RV does have a propane system; I expect that it also has black and grey holding tanks, and the other 'amenities' usually included in most class C rigs, but he's parked in a storage yard and may not have access to water and a dump without moving the rig, which may also be why he tried to 'T' a portable tank into the system.
