Newbie with a question December 12, 2017, 01:31:41 pm Hello all,I've learned a lot just reading all the various forum pages. I'm not a LD owner yet, but after much research, I'm very close! Among my choices is a 1993 23.5 ft long LD with a middle bathroom. It has 115,000 and everything looks good and works except the dash air. I really like it and the owner is very nice and has answered all my questions. I am looking for a shorter LD so this is right about where I want to be, size wise. I have never owned an RV before but have travelled extensively back in the day when you could safely sleep in your car. I have compared prices from several sites including the NADA guides. I have my own idea of what the price should be and would like to know what you all as experienced owners, would be willing to pay for a LD of this age and higher milage. Just opinions are great! Thanks so much for your time and thoughts. 1 Likes
Re: Newbie with a question Reply #1 – December 12, 2017, 03:26:07 pm If you look at the 'pinned' topics at the top of this category, i.e., 'Lazy Daze General Information and Discussions', you'll find a link to a document titled 'Used Lazy Daze Prices'. These are suggested asking prices; the figures are 'ballpark' and don't reflect the variables involved in accurately pricing an LD for sale, e.g., condition/regularly serviced and maintained or not, leak-free, repairs/replacements/upgrades needed, mileage, floor plan desirability, and many other pricing determinants.Your question is not really answerable because we don't know anything about this LD except the year, the (probably a TK) floor plan, and the mileage. Fair selling prices for rigs of the same year, model, and mileage could vary by several hundred to a couple thousand dollars (or more). Even if the rig has been diligently and meticulously cared for, the engine, chassis, all systems, and appliances are 24 years old, and replacements, repairs, and upgrades are inevitable - and can be expensive; if you do buy an older model, be sure to factor post-sale 'rig rehab' costs into your budget, particularly if you are not able to do the necessary work yourself. 3 Likes
Re: Newbie with a question Reply #2 – December 12, 2017, 04:52:20 pm Thank you, I will keep all of this in mind. It's a learning experience but as with anything, a bit of common sense will help. lol I did see that post and will look at it again. I also looked at NADA guide which was not even close to the posted prices. I'm guessing there is a lot of margin on used motorhome prices. Thanks anyway. I will research further.
Re: Newbie with a question Reply #3 – December 12, 2017, 05:10:44 pm I wish there was a simple, even if general, answer. I was just talking with my wife about the value of our 1992 MB with less than 60,000 miles. We landed between $14K-$18K. Which is, I think, high, but is what we would need to even consider parting with it. So that may be of no help. But as Joan says, with the information provided, it would be a fool's errand to give you a reasonable price to expect to pay.

Here's a comp for you, Paul, albeit with dealer pricing:1992 Lazy Daze 26RB, Stanton CA - - RVtrader.com

As Joan mentioned, have a large repair and maintenance budget on hand.YMMV 1 Likes
Re: Newbie with a question Reply #6 – December 12, 2017, 11:43:05 pm HiLola. It appears as though the comp is a '91 cab and a '92 coach. It has been repainted and newer A/C.
Re: Newbie with a question Reply #7 – December 12, 2017, 11:54:36 pm Buy a newer model. If you can't afford a newer one, wait until you can. Frank
Re: Newbie with a question Reply #8 – December 13, 2017, 10:04:42 am Greg, thanks for that. We are so uninterested in selling that we never even looked at the market. But given that one, perhaps we could be looking in the higher end of our range! RVsissy, consider out experience with an older coach- bought for $9000, spent about $9000 in repairs and upgrades, not including much of the labor which I provided free of charge. Lots of chat in this forum about older coaches, along with the prevailing wisdom that old RVs are zan expensive hobby for those talented in electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical work. For us, it has been a labor of love, enabling us to work on the RV whenever we are not traveling, about half the year. Enjoy, with wide open eyes! 2 Likes
Re: Newbie with a question Reply #9 – December 13, 2017, 02:40:40 pm Ok, thanks for all the input. You all have helped me decide to go for a newer model. I am looking for a get in and go vehicle not a work on and see model. lol I'll keep looking with wide open eyes! 2 Likes
