I have used the Weather Underground site for many years.
The radar tracking and upcoming weather displayed in graphs, are two of my favorite features.
Weather Forecast & Reports - Long Range & Local | Wunderground | Weather...

Besides using Government weather information in their forecasts,  thousands of home weather stations are monitored to provide local statistics.

"Pinpoint" local forecasts are the primary reason that I use Wunderground; this feature is particularly critical for getting an accurate area reading when one's town/city extends over a large area and includes many "microclimates".

None of the weather stations is infallible; I suspect they might do a lot better if once in a while they shifted their attention from the computer screen to the nearest window!

I agree, Wunderground is hard to beat. Relied on it for years for the best detailed marine conditions and forecasts. Clunky, but worth the effort.

When I want a quick current look at local weather, like "in how many minutes will it start raining?" Or "where is the nearest rain cell?" I use Dark Sky. Very nice and simple interface for phone or Apple Watch.

We cruise about 15 weather conditions and forecasts of those areas where our family lives, and my wife uses the native Yahoo weather on her iPhone, I use eWeather HD on mine for this.

I always keep the NOAA weather radio in standby and look at their radar map to see what cells are where.

So many good tools for weather junkies.

Weather is also an interest of mine and I concur with the comments regarding Wunderground. We have a station very close, but about 300 ft. higher than us. I am interested in purchasing a weather station to put on the Wunderground network so I can access the info when out of town. Any recommendations from those that have done this is appreciated!

For years I have carried in the rig an Emergency Weather Alert Radio. I'll have to admit that I've only used it once. That was the night I spent in a campground on the outskirts of Oklahoma City. Than damn radio alarmed seven (7) times that night.

I was waiting for that lifting feeling that Dorothy and Toto experienced. If you're in that situation it makes you realize that there's not much you can do.

Another time, in a campground in Minnesota, the camp host came around to inform everyone that there were tornado warnings up for that area. He advised that if the wind picked up we should all come down to his double-wide mobile home. Yeah, right!   :o

The last time I was in Costco, they had a full-featured weather at a very good price of about $80. I suggest checking that out immediately. Here's the online link with the original price:

Below is the weather station sold on Weather Underground's site.
It is designed to connect to the net and WU.
Amazon.com: Ambient Weather WS-1001-WIFI OBSERVER Solar Powered Wireless...

It looks to be a complete kit, with the exception of a pole to mount it on.

If you buy on of these or any other IOT device, be sure to give it a complex password, no needed to have it hacked.

I bought this $80 5 in 1 Accurite weather station. Had it up for a month and it has worked quite well. It's loaded with features, and most importantly, it is self-contained and was easy to program. I just bought another one for a gift for the man who has everything.

Finally received my new weather station today! Went with LaCrosse Technology Professional model which can be added to the Weather Underground network via Wifi.  Looking forward to getting it installed before the cold weather gets here!

Cool, I can set the Tehatchapi weather report to use your weather station, once it's se up.
I like WU's ability to pick  the local weather station closest to your home, for accurate temperature measurements.

For sure, I'll post the name of the station once I get it set up.  Eventually would like to set up an outdoor web cam to access when not home.

Got our station online.  Did a temporary mounting of the multi-sensor unit so still need to do a proper mounting job but just wanted to get a start on it.  Here is the Wunderground link:

Oh, in case you're wondering about the name of the station, "muhutsi" is the Kawaiisu word for "quail."  Who are the Kawaiisu, you ask?

Kawaiisu - Wikipedia

Our house is located directly across the road from Bear Valley Springs' newest amenity which will be dedicated later this month. Since we have dozens of quail crossing our property on a daily basis, we thought Muhutsi Meadows was a fitting name.

Greg,

Nice job!  It is colder at Muhutsi Meadows than it is here at my house.  A heck of a lot prettier as well!  You live in a beautiful place.

Finally got around to doing the permanent install on the multi-sensor. With the winds we sometimes get up here, at least I hope it's permanent!
