Yes you can, with either the LD's driveshaft removed or by carrying the LD on a flatbed trailer.
A stock LD cannot be flat towed.

30,000-lbs is a lot of weight to tow behind any vehicle.

That article said a fully loaded Ford F450 would be close to $100,000!   Our first house cost $17,000 fully furnished and the monthly mortgage, taxes and utilities totaled $150.  Each month, we were short about $25 despite cutting coupons and cutting corners. $100,000 for a pickup truck ... I'm being to feel like a stranger in this world.

My 16 year old F350 7.3 L diesel looks better every year.  Replace it with a new one?  Not in my lifetime.

So If I have a mechanical failure, e.g., fuel pump, and need to have my LD towed do I need to ask the tow truck driver to disconnect the driveshaft?  Does the typical tow truck driver know how to safely do this?  Regarding the need for a disconnect, does it matter how many miles the LD would be towed?

Paul, mine had to be towed once. The tow truck driver knew the driveshaft had to be disconnected if he hadn’t I would have required it. I wonder if this can be entered into my Coach-net profile?

Anyway, this is a common thing. In this case, the guy carried the wrench he needed to do this in the door of the tow truck, two or three sizes to fit most driveshaft u-joints. It took about 5 minutes.

I don’t have experience with many tow truck drivers, but have never met one who didn’t know how to do this. It would be a good idea to make sure the dispatcher knows this requirement when you call for help though.
