Solarus HT Tires June 30, 2024, 04:11:01 pm I was wondering if anyone has run these, or any of the other Solarus tires, on their motorhome. These tires are made by Cooper tire in the USA. The price is right and they have a load range E rating. I don't care too much about mileage, but I do care about blow outs. I would also like to hear if anyone knows of a good, inexpensive commercial grade tire in 225/75 16C. Michehlin tires costs about three times as much as the Solarus tires. I would feel safer replacing the economial Solarus tires more often than trying to extend the life of the expensive Michelin tires. Thanks
Re: Solarus Tires Reply #1 – July 01, 2024, 07:25:05 pm Hi Phil; Since early 2021 Goodyear owns Cooper tire, which mostly owns Starfire with the Solarus line of tires. I think you'll find that trying to extend the life of the less expensive Solarus tires will happen more often than with the more expensive Michelin. Tire 'thrashing' with Discount or any other tire provider, is a 'big pain in the neck' with me. I have to do a lot of preparation beforehand, and final 'tweaks' afterward, re-installing the wheel covers, extender hoses and Tpms senders. The last time at Discount they sheared off one of my valve stems, and ruined the internal threads on an extender trying to remove the schrader valve, even though you have to remove the extender anyway, and they have to remove the schrader valve at the wheel also. 'Numbskulls! I tried explaining that to the tech, and even with repeated re-phrasing he never caught on. They also managed to put on a front 1" extender without any schrader valve, so when I tried to take off the V2B to put my flowthrough Tpms sensor, it dumped all of the air in my tire. Ok that was Discount, but you have to be there to watch...too many techs just don't know what to do with wheel simulators or duals. RonB. 1 Likes

Discount always overinflates the tires. I got to talking to one of the kids one time and asked him about this. He said it prevents comebacks when the TPS might indicate a low tire. Anyhow, whenever I buy new tires I always change the psi to the proper spec. jor
