Onan Microquiet 4000 450 hour service May 27, 2017, 04:51:01 pm We are probably several months away from having 450 hours but looking at the manual I see the recommendation to clean/replace cylinder head and adjust valve lash.Has anyone had this done and what is the cost?Jim

The total was $138.16 including labor, a new fuel filter, a spark plug, and oil for an oil change. It was done at Brookings Harbor RV, Brookings, OR, and I recommend them.

I maintained a fleet of various sized generators, including a lot Onans, and never removed head to be decarbonize.Didn't do many valve adjustments either, unless they were noisy. It would be hugely expensive in a LD, since the generator has to be removed to access the head. The valves can be adjusted but it is difficult and many times is not necessary. It is similar to adjusting an OHV motorcycle engine, if you wish to give it a try.Are the valve noisy?Larry 2 Likes

I had thought about updating my question to ask, should I even bother? The valves aren't noisy and it runs great. I worried about letting someone mess with it given that it is working so well. Currently, have 402 hours on ours. Thanks.Jim
