Opinion - Quality of a 2009 MB Lazy Daze
Not long ago, someone asked about the quality of various years of LD's to include the year of our wheeled home.  As most everyone knows, the model years changes are well documented elsewhere on this Forum.   However, the discussions from time to time have been about the quality of construction and perhaps the quality of parts.  I can only speak about the quality of one (1) LD, which I've come to know really well.

First, the quality of nearly all appliances and parts on the 2009 seem to be exactly the same as in the previous 9-10 years, which is based on LD pictures and the "Parts Wall" picture at the LD Factory.  Hinges, faucets, floor coverings, fans, doors, and so forth.  For the most part, exactly the same in my judgment.

Some LDOs have mentioned that some earlier models had a better quality fabric than in models from the latter part of the 2000s.  Certainly could be true but I don't have personal knowledge of the differences.

The other day, we removed the mirror in the MB to clean the metal track supporting the mirror (moisture + dust = goop).  All the screws holding the mirror where screwed into the framing.   In order to remove the mirror, I had to remove the small towel rack.  The support plate for the towel rack is held in place with three (3) large screws.  In all honesty, one (1) would probably be adequate and perhaps even two (2).  But with three (3) screws holding that plate, I could do chin-ups.  So this is just a recent example of what we find every time we dig into a part of our '09 LD.

The wiring associated with the converter, lights, sockets, water pump, and so forth are organized and secured ... nothing sloppy about that.  Another example, all the drawers, doors, and cabinets seem to be square and properly fitted.  I have not found any evidences of short cuts in hidden areas like inside of any of the cabinets or in the basement storage areas. I have not found a single example of an attempt to hide a mistake, misplaced fittings, missing screws ... you get the picture.

The Ford E450 has 51,000 miles and the PO and the current owners (DW & I) maintain it according to the Ford maintenance schedule.  We have not had any Ford mechanical problems or failures (knocking on wood as I type).

If the newer or older models were built with the same skill and attention to detail as our LD, then I'd be pleased to own any of them.   And so that's my opinion based on the ownership of one (1) blue & white 27' MB Lazy Daze.
