Free ways to watch movies.

6 ways to watch movies online for free - CNET

Our local library has thousands of free digital books you can check out. Yours might as well. In addition, you can take free online classes ( my wife is learning water color painting) , stream movies, etc. All by simply having a library card.

Plus it has a free way to read magazines called Zinio. I download a bunch of magazines using our home WiFi before heading out.

We're stocking up now getting ready for our UT trip.

Great idea Ed,

We used to make fairly regular 11 hour passages at sea. Time at sea is typically long expanses of boredom punctuated by brief periods of fear and discomfort.
Prior to our departure, we drop by our local public library and get a few books on tape (CD's actually) and listen to books that we haven't read during the passage. We likely look like a couple of zombies in the pilothouse, each gazing into space, with a movie playing in our heads and on the stereo. Because my wife and I are insufferable and incurable nerds, if we arrive home and haven't finished a story that we were enjoying, we return the CD to the library, check out the book, and then read the book to each other, a chapter at a time each in our home. When our adult kids drop by and see us, they roll their eyes ("Oh my Gaaaaawd you two... ") and hope that no one knows they are related to us.

I've tried listening to books on tape while driving, but it is too distracting. On the road I have to focus on my driving. In the tug I let the autopilot do the heavy lifting!

I'll take a look at Zinio and the movie resources next.

I fully agree with you that a library card is a great asset.
