Google's Project Fi
DW & I are people who keep cell phones and similar technology until they die.  So I don't spent too much time reading or researching new technologies.  Nevertheless, if you haven't  heard about Google's Project Fi and if you are not happy with your wireless carrier, then Project Fi may be of interest to you.

Project Fi

Some of the features are rather unique for example you stay connected on your phone with coverage from 3 carriers + Wi-Fi.
Straightforward plans at $20/mo  ($15/mo for the 2nd phone) + $10 per GB of data. No contracts and no hidden fees.  Google buys back unused data at the same rate it sells it. (Info from the Project Fi website).  We haven't switched yet because our phones haven't died, but I keep dropping DW's phone to help the cause.  Hope this information is helpful.

Thanks for the info. These are the three 4G networks they use. "Project Fi has partnered with Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular, three of the leading carriers in the US, to provide our service." So, one question for those of us that need the widest coverage is how would this map out vs Verizon?

It is also only available on these phones for the time being. "Project Fi is only available on the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6, and Pixel devices". We use android phones but these all lack an SD card slot which is a must have for me.

Jim,
They all have a micro SD card. Your SD card can be cut down to fit in this slot.  We have a Nexus 5X, so I speak from experience.    We don't have Project Fi because I'd have to give up my Google Phone Number.

SD, or SIM? I know the SIM cards can be cut, but I've never heard of cutting an SD card except to destroy it.

They don't have Micro SD cards. I assume you are talking about Sim card.
