Ok...I'll just come out and say it...It's my Birthday...well almost...so thanks and Happy Birthday to all us Leo's.

Call me crazy (as if), but I always buy myself something special for my B Day and this year will be no exception.

What's it going to be? That new Tesla Model 3? That would be nice. Perhaps something a bit more practical like this...

Currently I have two compressors on board the LD. A 110 Volt Oil-Free for the RV tires that I have never used and a 12 volt for the bikes.

I prefer to use the unit I have in the garage to fill the LD tires prior to departure. It's faster and more convenient than the Oil-Free unit.

Replacing the 110 compressor with the Viair 400P RV ($212 on Amazon) will leave more room in the storage bay, save weight and I won't need to fire up the generator to fill the tires while on the road. Very nice.

I love birthdays. I always get such cool stuff. 😉

Happy birthday, John, Kent and all you Leo's.  DW is a Leo also so you are in good company!

Im in the group.  I am driving the LD to Breckenridge.  The wife is flying out to meet me for a week then I will motor back home taking - as Super Tramp would sing - the long way home (does that belong in the music thread?).  The photo safari is my gift to myself.  Maybe in two years or so my dear wife will not be working and can join me.

John,

A photo safari sounds like the perfect gift. I always feel a bit guilty while I hang back to get that perfect shot. Forget a tripod when DW is with me. That, I'm afraid, would be pushing it too far.

I've offered to let her use my D5200, but she has declined most enthusiastically. 😔 So, enjoy your shoot and post those pics. And if your DW joins in on the adventure, more power to the both of you.

Kent,
I would much rather be traveling with my DW.  She is still working and does not get that much time off.  She will fly out to see our friends get married, then we will visit her sis who lives not to far away (as compared to when we are in VA).  After that I will be solo again and back into picture taking and tourist mode.

John,

I know how you feel. My DW also works way too hard and crazy hours.

Back in our TT days we would often take 3 or 4 weeks off during the summer when it was possible to slip into Yosemite for two weeks in July. I was even thrown a surprise birthday party while in Phiefer Big Sur. A very special time that I will never forget.

RVing is a nice way to reconnect and spend time with family and friends. I am not surprised at the burgeoning sales of RVs lately.

Heading to Big Bear with my DW, daughter and our 3 small dogs in a couple of weeks. This will be the first time that we've had a chance to make it a family adventure. We are all very excited about this adventure. Bound to be crazy, but then that's what makes it so much fun.

Enjoy yourselves.

Another birthday coming up soon Kent so just in case you still want that model 3, here's a first drive report from Consumer Reports:

But even if you don't get one, I've heard rumors you'll be getting something pretty nice around your birthday anyway.

Thanks Greg,

I’ve heard of belated BDay gifting but PreBDay gifting could really catch on. After all my DW starts her Christmas shopping in August and I’m not allowed to peak. Probably socks anyway.
