Jiffy Lube broke my oil dip-stick.....
They say they can't replace it as is no longer available from Ford.  I went to two Pick-n-Pulls and found 2 for the smaller 350 engine (I have the larger engine with Banks) but they are 2" too short.  I was going to drill and wire the two ends together then cover it with shrink-wrap, but the Pick-n-Pull guy said I should do that only as the last choice because,  if it breaks and the end drops down inside, I would have a very expensive mechanic's bill to get it back out.  Any one know where I can get a new one?  Do you have an opinion on whether I should try my repair, if I can't find one?  I appreciate any assistance as I am WAY out of my comfort zone.

Me thinks that Jiffy Lube would be last on my choices of where to do an oil change!!! Even Midas would be preferred.   :o

I concur.

How about eBay? They have tons of stuff. Would it be safe to say that the oil is at its correct level? If so then shipping time from an eBay vendor wouldn't be out of the question.

You may want to secure the top half of the dip stick in place in the meantime.

Not to rub salt in your wounds, but years ago my brother took his F250 to Jiffy Lube and they managed to throw his front end out of balance which trashed $700 worth of tires.

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. Hope it all works out. Sure glad the other half of the stick didn't end up in the nether lands.

What year Ford and which engine?  I am guessing a E350 model but we could help you better if you include the info so we are not guessing.  Someone in the crowd may have a lead through a junk yard or some such thing.  Knowing the exact year and model would insure the correct device.  If you find the part Jiffey Lub should pay shipping and replacement, maybe time too.

Here are two for the e350 currently on eBay.
They have the same part number. I have the vendors saved. FYI

And then, of course, is Rockauto.com

Just checked and they have quite a bit of Ford e series items, including dip sticks, in stock.

It can be a challenge getting the correct one but very doable.

Good luck

THANK YOU!!!!! to all of you for your quick and helpful replies..... from your pictures, I can see that there is a number on the dip-stick.  I looked at the broken one and I can read F 4UE-6750-BB.  I'll follow up on your suggestions and check E-Bay first.  Sorry I left out the important date.... It is a 1995 350 engine.  I'll let you know the outcome.   Many thanks.  Marilyn

Hi Marilyn. That F 4UE at the start of the part number fits the Ford part numbering scheme. 'F' for the 1990's decade.'4' for a 1994 part, and 'U' for the Econoline van chassis. A '94 part for an oil dipstick should fit a 1995 also. You might also have a '94 chassis. Many motorhome model years are built on the leftover previous year chassis, especially small companies like Lazy Daze that takes awhile to build a motorhome. E350 refers to the type of chassis, the engine would be a V8, 460 C.I.D. (7.5 liter) . I believe only Chevy made a 350 CID engine. This will help you get the correct parts in the future.
I'm not sure how anyone can break an oil dipstick?! I would make them pay for the part when you find one. RonB

Apparently something happened in 1996 to change the length of the dipstick. I can find lots of post 1995 but not 1995. Thank you for the info on what the numbers mean.  It sure gets technical. I cannot find any entries after a 1/2 day of trying, where I can get a Ford Original Part by that part number. They keep offering me different modern brands that supposedly are the same but they won't guarantee me over the the chat line that it will be exactly like the Ford product so I'm stuck. I've sent a note to Lazy Days home office to see if they might help me as to what manufacturer now is duplicating the old Ford product.  Still looking.   Mjh
