Ignition coil brand/part number September 14, 2016, 03:59:58 pm My new (to me) LD is right at 100k miles and in need of some maintenance items. I have a list of things to do to the 'ol girl before our first trip with coils and plugs being first on the list.Just curious what brand coils everyone has been using. Motorcraft seems to be the choice of most but I'd like to see if anyone has used a different brand with success. Thanks
Re: Ignition coil brand/part number Reply #1 – September 14, 2016, 04:33:05 pm It's hard to go wrong using OEM parts but with many item, other brands are just as suitable and dependable.Looking at what is available at Rock Auto, Denso and Delphi are OEM suppliers. The Standard Motor Parts coil should also be dependable. Or you can get the Motorcraft coil. Not a bad price, with Prime.Amazon.com: Motorcraft DG508 Ignition Coil: AutomotiveLarry As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.
Re: Ignition coil brand/part number Reply #2 – September 14, 2016, 07:10:26 pm In another forum you were talking about a misfire. Make sure the plugs are tightened to the new spec. Early V10s have the head with fewer threads. Do a site search on Larry Wade's post about spark plugs. That should bring up the updated numbers.
