I remembered that I had posted something very similar (Larry's recommendations), but I don't necessarily always connect the dots these days! It's the same information, so good that you bookmarked it; the recommendations cover a lot of maintenance needs that are not in the Ford schedules! (I used Larry's "beyond the maintenance schedule" service/maintenance suggestions in a handout for Ladeze a couple of years ago.)

Joan,

You are so right. There are plenty of LD items that can use my hard earned cash (like the registration that "finally" arrived-arg!...hah!).

I'll stick to the program and head to the hills.

Any chance there's a digital copy of this for those of the non-Ladeze persuasion?  8) I think I've gleaned most of Larry's List over the years, but it'd be great to have a current and definitive copy.

Lots of good advice on this thread. A lot depends on how you intend to use the rig. I owned a 1992 from 1999 until earlier this year. It had 80,000 miles when I got it and 145,000 when I sold it. We bought a 2004 with 55,000 miles.

Why did we make this change?  First the miles. We are semi-retired and planning a lot more 3000+ trips. If you want to do mostly local, 100 to 300 mile trips I wouldn't worry too much about mileage.

The second and probably more important reason is that my 6'2" 250+ husband was very uncomfortable driving the old rig. LD made it so the driver seat will push back further during the 1999 model year. Around this time they also went to the wider chassis which we really appreciate!  Also around this time Ford upped the horsepower of the V10. Without looking it up, 265hp to 305hp.

These are a lot of changes and some may be of importance to you!  As others have mentioned go to Andy's guide. Lazy Daze Models

Mileage should only be part of the equation in selecting a rig. One other thing is to be suspicious of too low miles. That can indicate neglect. A rig may have sat for long periods without running or having maintenance done. Also realize that if the rig has been lived in for any length of time the interior may need major updating.

The V10 is available with either a two valve (2V) and a three valve head (3V).
The E450 uses the two valve head. The F53 Class-A chassis gets the more powerful three valve head.

Earlier 2V V10s have issues with the spark plugs blowing out due to the head having a small number of threads, as well as the Factory spark plug torque being set much too low.
In the middle of the 2003 E450 chassis year production, Ford changed to a new head with twice the thread depth,  eliminating the problem.
So, what to do if you own an older V10?  Well, by now, most have had the plugs changed but if not, it's a good thing to do.
At a little over 80,000 miles, our 2003 LD starting having a slight ticking sound, at start up, that quickly went away.
When the plugs were removed, the two rear plugs were finger tight, the source of the ticks.
The Ford Service Manual calls for the plugs to be torqued to 7-ft/lbs, which is very minimal.
After a lot of research and a conferring with one of the owners of Blown Spark Plugs, I used their recommend torque of 28-ft/lb.
As an experience mechanic, this torque value "felt" right, without any feeling that they were over torqued. This indicated the threads were still intact, verified with a scope.

If you have already done the plugs or have a later model engine, changing the plugs early than the 100,000 mile interval will likely have little or no benefit.
As mentioned, modern engines burn cleanly and do not foul plugs the way they did 3 or 4 decades ago.
It's a whole new world out there.
And don't worry, there are plenty of other maintenance items to take care of.

I checked the paperwork on the job BOSP did on my 2003 a couple years ago; 28 ft./lb of torque.  ;)
