And I quote from Death Valley National Park's Facebook page .......

Death Valley National Park

"Hottest July 28th on record! Yesterday's official high was 126°F (52.2°C). Last night's low didn't get below 101°F (38.3°C)!! 😰
Our visual thermometer at the Visitor Center IS NOT accurate, as the official temperature must be taken in the shade. It makes for a great photo op though! The highest recorded temperature ever was taken here in July 1913, 134°F. ‪#‎hottestplaceonearth‬"

Well Amigos ... we have a long list of travel plans on our list.  And at the bottom of a very long list is a visit to Death Valley when it's hot!  In fact, I'm doing my best to avoid any serious heat.  I wish DW and I could be finished with extended family responsibilities so that we can find cooler weather this time of year.  Fingers crossed ... maybe soon!

71' Outside air  temp today on the shores of Lake Superior. (80 inside Bessie). Boondocking for a change -don't need A/C so it works.

Most people you find in Death Valley, or the Florida Everglades, in July, are avoiding their probation officer.  :D

LOVE all the baby pix...especially Kent's "True criminals-both"--but with those temps I think even a hairless chihauhua would be overheated, much less those poor dears with full fur coats.

Ed D said, "Most people you find in Death Valley, or the Florida Everglades, in July, are avoiding their probation officer."  I dunno--after 16 years in the MO Dept. of Corrections, it seemed most of my clients weren't that serious about changing playmates & playgrounds...too much work; in fact, several told me they were headed for Sturgis when they got out--which is why many were doing Life On The Installment Plan (I was so green, I'd never even heard of Sturgis, 'til I went to prison).

I tend to be in the "humidity, not the heat" camp--9:30ish this morning in north Missouri, 78 degrees felt like it was pushing 90!   :P

Sunday, in Baker - just down the road from Death Valley - was 114 while I was driving through mid day.  Whew!
