Changes in 2017 MB
Viewing the Lazy Daze website as compared to 2016 Features and Specifications that Todd sent us in February, I noted that for 2017 the television in now 28", the coach entry door has a slow rise roller shade and there is a stainless steel power inlet for the 30 amp cord.

I see the transmission is now a 6 speed and the trailer plug is 6 pole.  The converter/charger has been upgraded from 45 to 75 amps.  I also see the choice of exterior paint scheme has been dropped.  The new shore power plug is a Smart Plug.  The GCWR is now 22,000 lbs. up from 20,000, carpet only in the cab area and no V8 option.  This information is from the 2015/2017 motorhome price list from LD.

The traditional paint scheme is no longer an option?  Just swoops and swirls now? Guess I'll cancel my order!     ;)

No big deal to me on paint color or style.

I understand the traditional feel of LD's "classic" paint scheme and I do agree that the "swirls" abounding on Class A's and Class C's abound and I don't particularly like all the "woosh & swoosh" of them all. But in all honesty, I do not see one "swirl" on my LD unless it's in my poor wax job.

What I do see is a stylish Lazy Daze that allows me to see past the paint and too the coach where the real beauty lies.

Swoops? Maybe. Swirls? Only in the wax.
Just sayin'.

Don't be too hasty to condemn the new swoops. It is a known true fact that swoops enhance outdoor lifestyle events in a 0.72:1 ratio. More swoops= more livin. If you doubt this, just consider the evidence that racing stripes make cars faster. Period.

Swoops are great for LD's and race cars. But SWIRLS are killer for race boats and hurricanes.

Gotta love this group. A sense of humor and good taste in RV's.

Oh my. Just saw the specs on the LD site. Things they are a changin'.

On another note, as I was checkin' the web for LD info, I came across an ad for an older "vintage" LD for sale.

This LD has a one of a kind paint job that goes way beyond "classic" or "new scheme". Kinda nice actually. I'd post a couple of pics, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to.

Kent, as long as there are no copyright issues, I don't see why you can't post those photos. I assume the original ad was public.

Hi Chris,

Yes it was just a posted ad on the web.

There were many pics of several upgrades. Besides the unique paint job the owners have included a flat screen tv on the outside next to the original Lazy Daze owner name tag.

Here are a few shots then. Enjoy. Maybe someone here knows the owners. Very unique.

We're having to pay $500 for the classic stripes on our new 2016 (to be delivered Sept-Oct) I find the new swoops anemic and ill designed, unlike the robust feeling of virtually all else LD
I got the feeling from Todd that they have had complaints over the years re the pin-striping wearing off the classic after a while.  In typical LD fashion, they're looking to keep it simpler.  Not sure this classic paint job will be available in 2017...?

When I picked up our '15 TK in May of '15, Todd told me that ours was the very last of the classic paint jobs unless someone was really, really insistent and paid for their insistence.  They hadn't had a request for the classic in a few years. Mostly the classic is requested by people who have previously owned an LD because, to them, that's just what an LD is supposed to look like.

Concerning the stripes wearing off.  This has not been my personal experience with previous LD's nor with ones I see on the road. Keeping them polished is the key, I think.

I suspect that the "striping issue" has a lot more to do with the careful application of striping decals being more labor-intensive and therefore more expensive and time-consuming than spraying swoopies through a template. ???   ;)

Not an issue for me; I'm happy with my classic paint scheme with its still solid 13-year-old stripes! YMMV.

I hear whispers that there may be a few more nice surprises in the 2017.  Something about better insulated walls might be one ... Or is that already on the website and I just missed it?

Ok, found my own answer in the specs.  Is this new for 2017?

1½” block polystyrene foam used as primary insulation in coach body floor, sidewalls and roof.

Now that is a bit shy what Triple E had in the roof (5 inches),  but is this a good step forward?

Im not a thermodynamics expert, but I prefer the polystyrene foam. I always think the old fiberglass batting will settle down the walls, but in reality, when I peeled the rear wall back on my 1992, it had not settled. What it had done was to hold the water that was getting in, like a sponge. I didn't like that. When I put it back together I used polystyrene and fiberglass in combination. I don't like the dust and dirt that fiberglass can absorb, but I hope the LD is so well sealed that none is getting in.

Don't lets get started on the benefit of a bit of an arc in the roof! LD likes Lake Newton.

I would like to see how they install it, as cutting, fitting and closing up gaps in the polystyrene seems important.

Didn't the 1.5" solid foam insulation start in 2010?

Ok, this is getting closer to what I heard... replacing the fiberglass with something else .

My oh my,

I read and re-read the standard features/options list on my LD several times before my eyes (must be the light) finally locked in on this standard feature.

I knew the foam had replaced the batting just trying make sure.

There I go...first it's the eyesight then the memory goes...now where did I put those keys?
