Air Filter for V10 October 08, 2016, 03:16:19 pm Hi All,I am getting my rig ready for the trip south. I will have the oil and oil filter changed, as usual. I looked at my engine air filter and it is dirty and should be replaced. The last time I just washed it. My Ford Owners' Manual says to use part #FA1634 but when I took out my air filter it says FA1632 (previous owner may have changed it). Does anyone know what the difference is? It looks like part #FA1632 is available at more places and Amazon has it at $15.24. Rock Auto has the FA1632 at $11.76. I am having problems in locating a FA1634. Are these air filters interchangeable? Is one better than another? Thanks for you help.Kevin

(And, don't blow the filter out with a blast from an air hose; this can make pinholes in the paper and allow dust, dirt, and tiny particles to get into the system.)Joan
Re: Air Filter for V10 Reply #2 – October 08, 2016, 06:09:59 pm Hi Joan,I just called the local Ford dealer and he says to replace the filter with the FA1632. That is the one they stock and he has not heard of the FA1634. I guess Ford must have changed it since the 2001 Owners Manual. It has been awhile since I cleaned the air filter so I am not sure how I did it, or I may be getting it confused with a shop vacuum filter. Anyway, thanks for your answer and I am safe with the Motorcraft FA1632.Kevin
