Well, I've found myself getting confused with this discussion, so need to ask some questions.

First, Joan, Thx for the link--I'm a visual person, so that really helps.

LDy Lulubelle came to me with what looks like the blue EZ Flush Super Heavy Duty w/ Sizing Rings hose & a fitting with hooks on the end that attached to her unified blk/gray outlet; the end that doesn't attach to the blk/gray outlet has nothing on it & fits easily into the openings when I've used dump stations.  This all smushes into the compartment behind the door on the driver's side--the door closes w/o difficulty, & I've never had to take anything apart.  Is this the way it comes from the mothership, or did her previous families do one of the adaptations ya'll have been discussing?

Joan, I see the wisdom in "always carrying an extra dump hose and appropriate fittings;" where do you store said extras, since the discussion seems to be the aforementioned cubby is not particularly commodious?  Thx, all.

"where do you store said extras"
----
The spare hose and fittings are in a large ziplock bag stashed in a rear compartment; my rig is a TK, so it has one small rear compartment for storage of lightweight items and two fairly long, but shallow (9" high openings) rear compartments. The access to about a third of each of these long compartments is awkward and requires removing items from the more accessible areas and peering into the interior with a flashlight to see and get at whatever is stashed in the back, but at least there is "storage" area.

Since I'm preparing to make a trip to June Lake this week, this thread prompted me to inventory my sewer equipment and update my hose (Presto-Fit Blue Line) and it's appropriate fittings. My 30'IB has ample storage for the extra items I store in tubs in the large pass-through compartment at the rear of the rig, along with a green garden hose and a small lawn rake. Everyone needs a neat and clean camp site, no?   8)

Not sure that it came that way from the Mothership, but the straight hooked fitting on the end does fit in the compartment. Thanks for your post, Lynne, because now I am going to order this fitting Hose Adapter, 3" Straight, Black, Bulk - Valterra.com | Valterra.com and attach it to my new hose and it will fit in my compartment. It's not the 45* fitting I wanted, but it's short and will allow the hose to quickly angle/bend from the "unified black/gray outlet". BTW, I always wondered what to call that outlet. You are a font of information tonight, Lynne. <grin>

re:  "unified black/gray outlet"    You're welcome, Chris.  ...though sometimes I go round Robin's barn a dozen times to say something that didn't need saying in the first place.   :-[

I've come to understand that the different floor plans by necessity have variations of the innards that are never seen (e.g., I think my toilet is a straight shot into the black tank, but I've read these other descriptions of off-set arrangements, & though I've not examined other rigs, it sounds like some have separate outlets for the black & gray tanks, so like the blind men & the elephant, all I could do was describe what I had--& hope it made sense to others).

So, what I think I understand from this discussion is that A) at some point my dump hose &/or its fitting to the dump outlet will die, B) it is wise to carry spares & what I have is likely not original from the mothership, so C) I need to acquire both a spare hose & fitting for it to attach to the outlet.

Thx, everybody.   ;D

That Valterra fitting is the one (+) I've been using for 13 years.  :D

My hose came from the factory with a 45 deg. connector on one end and nothing on the other end.  The connector has 2 "clips" to catch the projections on the dump valve.  It fits in my compartment ONLY on its side with the opening tilted toward the back of the rig.

Didn't see this thread before but grabbed this exact fitting to use with the new rhino flex and the setup looks nice. I used the clamp from my old blue hose and the whole setup feels stout. I'll camp again in 10 days so will give a report on how it went. I hope the report isn't a clamp malfunction!!

I am still using the original 45 deg 2 hook connector on my 8' blue hose that came with my '08 MB.  I note that, to fit in the compartment, the fitting must be angled so it is pointing a bit toward the back.  Any other angle, or a fitting with 4 hooks, and the compartment door would not close.

Just got back from a weekender, the second with our rhino flex. Plenty happy with it.

Also happy on departure; is there anything better than no one behind you at the community dump so you can blast and blast that black tank with water?! (have a clear connector with a hose attachment) I just blasted and blasted that black tank until it was pretty much clear water running out.  Ahhhhh  :D

I let my nice Rhino Flex setup go with the trailer, so had to buy a new setup for the LD. After researching here I realized this was going to be a challenge, and a compromise.

I soon realized the Presto-Fit system would be the best option if I wanted to use the storage compartment built in. I found the storage compartment a good place for the extra length hose I would need sometimes, with a basic bayonet coupler on one end, and the PrestoFit sleeve on the other end. My LD has the spare tire in the spare tire compartment, but there is still room to store a 5' length of Presto-Fit hose, with the big elbow on it. This is the hose I use most often to dump, with or without the elbow.

The Presto Fit hose is not the most robust, but I've never really needed the super duty hose, since I never leave the sewer hooked up in a park. I also never trust the couplings that are friction fit, I gingerly hold them in place when I start the dump. I have used them before, and they seem to work OK.
