small travel trailer July 06, 2016, 10:43:26 am Dear Collective Wisdom,This is a strange question for this forum but here goes. We are former and hopefully future LD owners and were asked what is the best brand of travel trailer. They are looking at smaller ones and want quality, like LD quality...which is why I am asking for information here. They are set on a travel trailer not a class C. If anyone knows where to find this information I would appreciate it.Pamelain hazy Cincinnati 1 Likes

They are looking at smaller ones and want quality, like LD quality"Small Trailers" covers a very wide range of vehicles, from 8' tear-drops and small pop-ups to 20' TTs.Can you be a little more specific of your "friends" desires and needs?I go to the big Pomona RV show, almost every October and I suggest your friends do the same. It is a great place to see a wide selection of all sorts of trailers. I have no specific brands to recommend, not having seriously researched or ever owning one. That said, my brother owns an small Escape fiberglass trailer and a close friend has a recent Lance trailer, both seem to be reasonably well screwed together. Neither excites me in the least.Escape Trailer Industries – Chilliwack, British ColumbiaLance Travel Trailers | Ultra Light Weight TrailersHappy huntingLarry
Re: small travel trailer Reply #2 – July 06, 2016, 11:35:42 am Hi Larry,He was talking around 16-19 ft, something he can tow with a mid-size pickup (yet to buy). I think he is looking at a Chevy truck since the Ford 150 was slightly too big for his garage. Sorry I didn’t include that earlier. Not into glitz at all, has tent camped and backpacked but looking to leave the tent world. He is an amateur astronomer that has recently retired and wants to spend more time with the telescopes and doing star parties for the public etc. So would be out for several weeks at a time. He has gone to one RV show and is thinking of buying a truck now and then the TT.Thanks again.
Re: small travel trailer Reply #3 – July 06, 2016, 11:40:00 am There is a large following for the small "fiberglass buble" trailers including Casita and Scamp brands. Both sell factory direct.
Re: small travel trailer Reply #4 – July 06, 2016, 12:06:44 pm My brother is a member of a fiberglass trailer club, having owned a Casita and now an Escape. They have an annual GTG at Lake Casitas (near Ojai, Ca) every October, which is open to any brand of fiberglass trailer.CA 2016, Oct 20-24: Fiberglass Rally Lake Casitas - Fiberglass RV2015 Fiberglass Rally @ Lake Casitas, October 29-November 2Nd - Casita...Events like this are the perfect place to see a wide assortment of the small trailers, owned by enthusiasts. Most everyone is happy to show you their rig.We will be there too, along with a bunch of my brother's RV friends. Just like an LD GTG, we all like to visit, eat and look at each others rigs, no matter what RV we own.Larry 1 Likes
Re: small travel trailer Reply #5 – July 06, 2016, 12:10:42 pm I have a very nice one for sale but it's not small...29' Arctic Fox. They are very well made, solid oak cabinets etc...if they are interested in going bigger...always stored indoors. 1 Likes
Re: small travel trailer Reply #6 – July 06, 2016, 02:05:05 pm We camped next to a 13' Scamp travel trailer (Scamp is manufactured in Backus MN) last week and the owners gave me a quick tour. The inside is remarkably compact, no bath facilities. They kept the bed made up and had a tiny dinette at the front of the trailer. Because the inside of the trailer is carpeted, it is remarkably quiet. They added a tiny AC unit in the rear of the unit to avoid having to install one on the roof (wanted the additional 2" of headroom inside). These are an economical way to travel!(Trailers don't appeal to us - but we note 2/3 of campers appear to be in a travel trailer, testimony to their wide appeal and the fact that they are easier on the budget.)
