2002 26.5 mid bath question
Hi all,
My wife and I are on our first camping trip in our new to us 2002 26.5 mid bath. We're just trying to figure stuff out. I am trying to figure out which drain valve is for which tank . The owners manual says the one with the smaller valve will be gray water. Problem is both my valves are 3".  Could someone please tell me which valve is for which black or gray. Thanks

Black tank valve is in front of the driver side rear wheel and Gray tank valve in back of the rear wheel.

Anyone know why both valves don't share a common outlet like a travel trailer? You could dump tanks independently but leave the hose attached with out moving it.

Every floorpan has its own holding tank outlet formation, some with a single outlet, others with two outlet.
It depends on where the two holding tanks are located and if the plumbing can be connected.
In the MB, the grey water tank is in front of the real axle and the black tank is in back the rear axle.
There is no way to connect the two together, using one outlet.

The "run", or the decline per linear foot in order to insure good drainage has a lot to do with it. The location of the tanks relative to the drain means that to tie them together they would have to be too low to provide good ground clearance. My last travel trailer had a drain valve in front and rear for this reason.

Oh my! Another reason to keep our '99 Rear Bath. (1 Dump).

(I also believe from what I've read here that flushing the black tank on a RB is easier because it's a straight shot down with the wand.) (MB has a jog in the plumbing I think)

I took the owners manual describing "small valve" to mean:  the gray water tank is the one that has the small hose outlet on the cap.  Anyway that is how I remember on my 2001 mid bath.

I have a 2001 mid bath which I bought in 2009. In the beginning I had a hard time remembering which was the black tank and which was the grey tank. So I labeled each tank so now I don't need to remember. The black tank on my LD is in front of the rear wheels and the grey tank is behind the rear wheels and it has the small hose attachment on the cover.

Duro said, " We're just trying to figure stuff out".  Does your grey tank valve still have the little hose valve on it?  It could have been replaced by the previous owner.  If not the Alex's answer should work.  You might want to label the black tank.

By the way, on the MidBath the grey tank is below the gas cap.  You can dip the drivers side mirror when pulling into a gas station and use the little cap to locate the RV relative to the gas pump.  The same mirror trick can be used when pulling up to the dump station.
