Follow-ups Shop recommendation Near San Fernando, CA area Shop recommendation Reno, NV area May 14, 2016, 10:17:09 pm I would like to get the steering and suspension checked wheel bearings packed and shocks checked. I will probably replace the shocks. There appear to be several places in Carson City and Reno and wondered if anyone can recommend someone?I was planning on going to Hendersons in Grants Pass, OR but thought I might get it done sooner and hopefully cheaper.Jim
Re: Shop recommendation Reno, NV area Reply #1 – May 14, 2016, 11:22:17 pm Jim - We've taken our 2000 mid-bath to Ed's RV in Moundhouse just east of Carson City. So far all they've done is an oil change, winterizing and replacement of a roof vent lid that I scraped off with a low hanging tree branch. (That's a rookie mistake I hopefully won't make again!) The work they have done has been satisfactory. We have an appointment on Wednesday to have the gaskets replaced on the freezer and refrigerator doors. They are pretty busy and it was hard to get an appointment before Memorial Day. Ed's was recommended to me by my regular mechanic who is honest and I trust. Unfortunately, he does not work on motorhomes.Jean Gunter
Re: Shop recommendation Reno, NV area Reply #2 – May 16, 2016, 02:13:43 pm I can recommend the Auto and Tire Doctor in Truckee (up the road from Reno) if you feel like driving up the hill a little ways. They've done all of the maintenance on my LD. They're a small shop but they do have an RV lift.
Re: Shop recommendation Reno, NV area Reply #3 – May 16, 2016, 06:46:47 pm I have used Carson Truck & Auto Repair at 5159 Arrowhead Drive, Carson City for the last 15 years or so off and on. They are used to handling motorhomes and appear to know what they are doing. I had them tighten the body bolts on our MB last time they were doing other service work for me. (Note: they do the chassis work but would send out for house/appliance work including the gen set). FWIW: Jack in Reno, NV
Re: Shop recommendation Reno, NV area Reply #4 – May 16, 2016, 07:02:31 pm I prefer to use Ford dealers to work on Ford's. I used the one on 395 south of town.
Re: Shop recommendation Reno, NV area Reply #5 – May 18, 2016, 12:37:49 pm Thanks for the replies. Looking at online reviews on Yelp and rvservicereviews.com I came up with this place in Reno that looked like a good choice. Sparks and Reno Auto Repair | Sunshine Service Brake & AlignmentHowever, they couldn't get us in too backed up.Continued looking and again based on reviews this appears to be a good choice and is where we are heading next. Redding Auto Repair | All Wheel Auto, Truck & RVMade an appointment with them for next week.Jim
