Sending Personal Messages (PMs)
Wanted to try this function. Wanting to reach the right Chris, I clicked on 'Chris' in one of your messages and got to the New Message form. The To field is blank, but Chris is below that box. ????

So I will find out if this reaches you.

Don't think it did. It said Message Sent, but shows no messages. So I am posting here to not lose the typing.

Anywho, when the time comes to address The Companion, there is one thing I would like to do that has been bugging me for years. The other contributors used Labels to index the topics and ignored the TOC. OK fine, maybe too much belt and suspenders. But, Labels is case sensitive, making Refrigerator and refrigerator two topics. Also, there are too many cases or calling a thing by too many names making it problematic for someone to find all the information.

Would like to discuss this with you when the dust settles.

Don, when you see the name below the box (should be an "x" next to the name as well), that indicates the member you are sending the message to.  The "x" allows you to remove them as a recipient if you made a mistake, the empty box is to add more members if necessary (yes, you can send a message to multiple recipients at the same time).

On the top menu bar, hover over "My Messages" then "Read Messages".  This defaults to your Inbox.  Hover over "Messages" on the left and click "Sent Items".  That should show you if a message was sent (and you can read the message you sent).

Note there's also a Drafts repository.  You can save messages as drafts if you need to stop midway and come back to them (same thing with Posts, and in fact the forum Auto Saves your posts as Drafts periodically while you're typing them.  You can see your Draft posts by clicking "My Account" or your avatar - you should see "Show Posts", "Show Drafts" on the left side by your Avatar pic)
