Volunteer to inspect an LD in Utah? March 24, 2016, 10:39:48 am Yahoo Message Number: 159544Hi everyone, I'm talking to a guy selling a 2001 26.5 MB. It is stored at the Hill Air Force Base in Utah (apparently about 30 mi north of Salt Lake City). I read in the buying and selling tips that it's worth asking the group if anyone is in the area and available to check out the vehicle. So, I thought I would give it a shot!I'd also be happy to compensate somone for their time.Another question, we'll only be able to pick up our vehicle in June. Any suggestions for storing an RV in the New York area? Thanks and best wishes, Cathy

Reply #2 – March 24, 2016, 02:15:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159551HI Chris, We fly into New York City, but I just imagine the city is the least practical place to store the RV. We'd have no problem storing it and picking it up elsewhere in New York.By the way, I suspect my Utah seller may be a scam...the search continues.Cathy

I was going to warn you.Anytime the price is "very reasonable" and the seller comes up with a reason that the item cannot be inspected prior to purchase or a deposit being made (sometimes with a fake escrow holder) and sometimes with a delivery and inspection period - - you can pretty much be assured that it's a scam.bumper
Re: Volunteer to inspect an LD in Utah? Reply #5 – March 25, 2016, 08:58:54 am Yahoo Message Number: 159564It was exactly like that, bumper. Plus he wasn't very nice--not typical of the LD owners I've crossed so far!

Reply #6 – March 25, 2016, 03:51:32 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159580Hi Cathy. Not sure what you're looking for, but there are a couple decent looking units up on Ebay right now.One is a 1999 24 foot unit and the other is a beautiful 2010 31 footer. There is also a 2002 24 foot model.Chances are, one or two of these belong to members in this group! Also, I always do a search on SearchTempest. Yes, there is a LOT of scam listings on there but also a lot of real listings. Thats how we were able to locate our 2004 30 footer. There's currently a cute 26.5 footer listed on there, but it's in CA.On a SIDE NOTE... we here in the Burke household are getting pretty pumped! In less than 2 months, we'll be pulling out of Ohio and heading west for our new full-time RV lifestyle. Anxious and nervous, of course but also very excited and confident. Started a Blog (Seems to be the thing to do.) to keep family and friends up-to-date on our where-abouts and to let a lot of them live vicariously through us! LOLGood luck in your search. The right unit will turn up at the right time for you. Just keep looking and dreaming!Bud & Barbara (in Ohio... for now)

Volunteer to inspect an LD in Utah? Reply #9 – March 26, 2016, 02:48:05 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159603Hi Bud and Barbara, Congrats on the big change. We'll be following you too! We're looking for a 26.5 mid-bath, front dinette, 2001 - 2004. searchtempest has been a huge help.I definitely would feel more comfortable buying from someone in the group. I was telling my husband this morning, that I even feel better about buying an LD knowing this group is here. We'll be on the road but never all alone!Cathy (LD wannabe with husband and 4 small kids in tow)
Re: Volunteer to inspect an LD in Utah? Reply #10 – March 26, 2016, 04:00:05 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159604Have you checked the "For Sale" files on this message board? I don't know how current the ads are, but there may be something of interest in the listings. Worth a look!Joan
Re: Volunteer to inspect an LD in Utah? Reply #11 – March 26, 2016, 04:10:29 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159605Catherine,I was going to post something similar to what Joan just said. There are currently 4 midbath rigs for sale in the file section of this message board that are from 2001 and newer. I am fairly certain that a few of them have been owned by folks who have posted on this message board over the years. If it were me, I would be more comfortable buying from this list than random istings like Craigslist.Living out of the country, you have a tall challenge. What in particular, are you looking for price? Miles? Location?Steve K
Re: Volunteer to inspect an LD in Utah? Reply #12 – March 27, 2016, 05:59:54 pm Yahoo Message Number: 159614hi Steve, Thanks, I have been checking every new for sale post on this board, but I'll look again at some of the older ones in case they aren't sold yet.Our budget is under 30k and we're looking for a 26.5 ft with front dinette, not a lounge set up. If we could convert the lounge (I mean the couch + 2 easy chairs) that might open up some options. But I haven't yet heard of anyone doing that with an LD.Miles and location are less of an issue, though east coast is more convenient. Hoping to find our rig by June!Cathy
