Larry is spot on. I have not owned any other LD. By point of comparison, I have little to offer.

The only other Class C we have owned was a 1985 (if I recall correctly as it was an inheritance from my wife's parents) Sunraider on a Toyota chassis. Tioga Pass did put it through its paces twenty years ago and it was certainly slow and go with its 4 cylinder engine.

As Tioga pass is currently snowed in and far out of my way (coming from the LA basin), I will be entering the Valley from the 140. Usually take 41 but looking for a new route and different approach during this time of year.

Expecting snow and rain the day after we arrive and loving it.

Carry chains. Were there in Nov,15 via 120. Only place chains required was inside the park.

No need for chains. We were there Saturday. If you are not sure go to the park website or Call 209/372-0200 (press 1 then 1) for the most up-to-date conditions.

Thanks for the timely information.
I tend to be overcautious at times, but the latest chain control was in force over Donner Summit on I-80 was July 4 one year.

Hi Folks,

Made it to Yosemite Valley yesterday, March 28, at 5:00pm. Took 140 in from Merced Ca and enjoyed a beautiful drive along the river.

While we did get a bit of snow as we entered the park, we did not need our snow cables, However, chains were mandatory on 41 and people were being turned away if they didn't install them.

Light snow in the Valley. Beautiful day.

Yeah...no really...after backpacking in the Sierras long ago, I learned how fickle they are. That and after two weeks of checking the weather in the Valley, all my past experiences were validated.

Like "they" say, "Hope for the best...expect the worst".

Rain and snow predicted for today...we'll see.

Snowed in at Yosemite? Things could be worse.

Rain is a good thing, it increases the size of the waterfalls.
