Escapees Mail Scanning Service

We're going on a 5 month trip.
Has anyone used the mail scanning service from Escapees RV Club or any other similar service? Did it work out? Can you talk to a person should you need help?

Thanks

I use the Escapees scanning service. I find it works great and is invaluable to me. You must have at least the Class B mail service, then add the scanning service. I get an email from them whenever new scans are made, I can the log in and view the envelopes. I can then choose to send with mail, destroy, or scan contents. If I choose scan contents, the next day the contents are online. This has come in handy when I don't want to wait for the mail to get to me and want the information now.

The ability to destroy the  envelopes saves postage as a lot of my mail is either junk, or something I paid online.

From the Mail Service page I can update or add mailing instructions. Normally to General Delivery at some small Post Office. They send an email telling me when mailed. Anyone at the Escapees main office can help with any request. You can also add mailing instructions via email or phone. I believe they will also send mail by UPS or Fedex if requested, although I have not done this.

You must maintain a balance in your mail service account from which they deduct the mailing costs.I keep about $50.00 in it.

I love it.

We have used MyRVMail.com for about 10 years and their service has been very good.  One has a “web account” with them by which you manage their services.  Every time they put something into your “mail box” they put the return address into  a list that you can see on your “web account.”  From the list you can tell them to delete items or open items and scan the contents to a PDF file.  Scanning of single pages costs $2 and the PDF file is available for download the next business day.  They also provide you with a personal email address that you can use.   You can either have your mail sent to you on a scheduled basis or only when you request it and you can select the specific items that are to be sent.  Like most other such services you must keep funds in your “mail account” to pay for the postage of forwarding your mail.  You can select the method of forwarding including USPS Priority Mail, UPS, etc.  You also  specify where you want your mail sent.  You can store multiple forwarding addresses with them and select the specific address that you want to use.  Most of ours are “General Delivery, Hold for Pickup” in a number of cities.  One thing we particularly like about this service is that it is in Crestview, FL right on I-10.  We use I-10 frequently and just take a short detour past their place to pick up our mail.  There are some connections between  this service and Passport America.  At one time Passport America members got a better rate.  With any mail forwarding service you must request that the post office do the forwarding.  You can now do this online for $1.50 via the USPS web site.  You can also stop the forwarding via this site.  One thing to understand is that the “forwarding” operation occurs at the post office where the mail item enters the postal system;  not at the post office of the normal delivery address.  You need to compensate for “mail that is in the USPS pipeline” when you stop and start forwarding.  We request that forwarding start about 1 week before we leave home and the mail in the pipeline arrives at our house before we leave.  Upon returning home, we immediately stop the forwarding.  We watch our MyRVMail box and when it stops getting new items we request that everything be forwarded to our home.  Typically this period is about 1 week.  Doug Baker
