Small Compressor February 06, 2016, 07:25:32 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158566Hi Folks, I've been carrying around for years my portable compressor that I use at home. This year I need the space so what have you found to be a fairly quick, dependable, smaller compressor that I should consider? Thanks for your help.
Re: Small Compressor Reply #1 – February 06, 2016, 10:07:30 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158571Are you looking for a 12V or 120V compressor? If you looking for a small 120V compressor, Mr. Bob Moore helped me select the Husky inflator sold at Home Depot.http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-120-Volt-Inflator-HY120/202871788I've used several times since I purchased it and I gave this tiny little inflator high marks and the price is righteous. Hope this helps.Ed & Margee Fort Worth
Re: Small Compressor Reply #2 – February 06, 2016, 11:59:08 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158572I got a Dewalt compressor to fix a trailer several years ago, a Harbor Freight pancake to haul in the LD, a Costco jumpstart/compressor unit and the late Mr. Moore's one listed here. The last two are what we carry now. The last one gets the most use. It be small, but mighty.I was looking forward to meeting Bob at Morro Bay next month, but such will not occur.RIP Bob Moore.
Re: Small Compressor Reply #3 – February 07, 2016, 07:49:59 am Yahoo Message Number: 158574Just a reminder.... the "compressor/inflator" topic cycles through the board periodically; putting "air compressor" into the "Search Conversations" (>Search Groups) bar at the top of the home page of the message board will bring up many past posts on the topic. As ever, YMMV. ;-)Joan

Re: Small Compressor Reply #5 – February 07, 2016, 09:10:23 am Yahoo Message Number: 158577Hello Bill. I think this rather long discussion on compressors is the most recent "full" discussion on the matter.https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/lifewithalazydazerv/conversations/topics/157133Hope this information helps.Ed & Margee Fort Worth
Re: Small Compressor Reply #6 – February 07, 2016, 11:55:26 am Yahoo Message Number: 158585Try the "search" function, this topic has been discussed many, many times, the last time just a couple of months There is no need to rehash it. The advance tab allows a more refined search.Larry
Re: Small Compressor Reply #7 – February 07, 2016, 12:48:50 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158586I have a Black & Decker 500 amp charger/inflator which i carry in my truck to take care of those times when the battery is dead after sitting many weeks. It works off some type of hi-tech battery which holds the charge and it is strong enough to start a Perkins diesel engine. In a few weeks when I take our rig out of winter storage and get it ready for Morro Bay I will use the B&D to top off the tires if needed. Will see how effective it might be. It is small, fairly heavy and only needs to be charged on shore power infrequently, depending on how often it is used and nice to have something which will take care of two needs. Will report back.Ian, Seattle
Re: Small Compressor Reply #8 – February 07, 2016, 03:20:21 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158588Advance tab? My browsers (I'm using three browsers currently) shows Conversarions, Photos, Files, Attachments, Events, Links, Database and About. Where can I find the advance tab? Just curious, this Yahoo Groups format is continually frustrating to me.
Re: Small Compressor Reply #9 – February 07, 2016, 03:54:08 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158589Hello Paul. I think the guidance was how to use the advanced search feature for "Finding and viewing topics and messages". (I may be wrong on this assumption). If you click on the question mark next to the Membership tab, you see see a topic called Advanced. This section of the Yahoo Forum is suppose to offer guidance on searching for subjects within Conversations. Sure hope this helps.Ed & Margee Fort Worth
Re: Small Compressor- Now Yahoo Reply #10 – February 07, 2016, 04:26:20 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158592To get to "Advance" search type anything in the "Search Conversion" tab and click "Search groups". On the next page, you will see the "Advance" button. Click it and go from there. Yes, Yahoo is pain to work with and I don't anticipate it getting any better. Not trying to start a panic here but Yahoo is lossing a lot of money and is making large cutbacks. Yahoo Groups doesn't make much money and it could up and disappear during the cost cutting. The moderators have made a list of all members and their email addresses, to be used in case the forum does go away suddenly. We will cross that bridge when we come to it.Larry
Re: Small Compressor- Now Yahoo Reply #11 – February 08, 2016, 12:48:16 am Yahoo Message Number: 158595Thanks Larry, good instructions, worked like a charm to narrow search results.I hope there will be a way to port the data base when Yahoo sheds the groups. We can hope perhaps management there just has forgotten these groups exist!
Re: Small Compressor Reply #12 – February 08, 2016, 12:53:17 am Yahoo Message Number: 158596Thanks, I have used been using search continually, but Larry's answer covered my question- I never noticed the Advanced button within the search results- now with that information I can really narrow down search results when looking for conversation specifics like "stowaway pod" and "kayak rack".
Porting the Data Base Reply #13 – February 08, 2016, 10:08:57 am Yahoo Message Number: 158598"I hope there will be a way to port the data base when Yahoo sheds the groups. We can hope perhaps management there just has forgotten these groups exist! "Because of the instability and vulnerability of the parent Yahoo organization, we moderators have had discussions of what to do if Yahoo Inc decides to shed Yahoo Groups (YG), and in particular, what to do if our Lazy Daze group simply disappeared one morning. We don't think Yahoo would be so crass as to drop YG without some warning. But just in case we are somewhat prepared. I joined a Yahoo Group named Group Managers Forum (GMF), which is an informal (unsponsored by Yahoo) support group for YG and is a valuable technical source for YG moderators. Through this group I learned that YG allows a moderator to backup/save only 2000 of its group's email addresses. In our case, we are dealing with 5000+ email addresses, not all of them active of course. I also discovered a Chrome program, which allows moderators to harvest and save all of their groups' emails. With help from my Chrome-using, computer-whiz daughter, I was able to save all our group's email addresses with the thought in mind that if our Lazy Daze group ever vanished from the Internet, either I, Larry or Judie would be able to contact every active member and let everyone know what future plans for resurrecting Life With a Lazy Daze RV are. There is a handful of groups email services similar to YG, and one in particular, Groups.io, seems to have decent reviews. You can check its website out if you wish. However, it is our opinion that currently there is no major threat to YG and therefore we will continue operating as usual, painful as it is sometimes. It is comforting, however, to know that we should be able to contact all active members should Armageddon transpire. One final issue that may come to mind: backing up 160,000 past messages and our files/photos. We don't have a solution for that - yet.Chris
Re: Porting the Data Base Reply #14 – February 08, 2016, 12:17:00 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158599Many thanks to all discussion moderators everywhere- work I fully appreciate, and at which I would be unsuited!Especially thanks to the moderators of this group and Techsnoz. I have participated in forums and groups since the old days of Bulletin Boards, the 90's I think, and this is hands down, the best moderated board I have seen. Moderators are always quickly available to help, yet invisible. Possibly LD owners and aficionados are indeed a cut above, (haha!) but the mods here are truly expediters of good community.Thank you!
