Houston area RV service?
Yahoo Message Number: 158368
Looking for recommendations for the Houston, TX area...
We are most of the way set up for 4-down towing, but need help with the brake and light wiring on the rig.  Bob Jones RV has great reviews, but is backed up until March.  Does anyone know of another reputable place to get this kind of work done?

Many thanks! Rayn and JJ 2002 26.5 MB

The Foretravel folks hold the Motorhome of Texas in the highest regard.  Their website is http://motorhomesoftexas.com/.  I know they have worked on other brands of RVs.  If they can't help you, I can post a request for information on the Foretravel Forum which has a good number of people who live in the Houston area.  If you need that kind of help, email me at traxless at yahoo.com.  I'll get right on it.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but... the Lazy Daze is already wired for lights; there's a trailer light connector in the rear. As for brakes, if you use the SMI Stay-In-Play system, you won't need any wiring on the rig.

On the toad side, you could use inexpensive (about $25) magnetic lights and avoid wiring to the car's electrical system; I did that for a couple of years. Permanently wired lights are better, but you'll probably want professional installation, and not being from Houston I don't know any installers there.

As for braking, you could use a "brake in a box" system such as Brake Buddy, which requires no installation, but those have a number of drawbacks. A permanently installed system such as Stay-In-Play is better, but again, you'll probably require expert help to install it.

I hope the OP is still following this thread.  I have a Houston area recommendation for you.

Smittys Welding & RV --1500 Brittmore--Houston, TX--800-491-1891

This information came from a Foretravel owner with favorable comments.  He said "Had hitch/lights work done there (they are M&G dealer also) and very satisfied."

And so I hope this helps.
