We recently replaced our old Garmin Nuvi 1450 with the Nuvi 2539LMT and it is a major improvement over the older unit. Aside from that it will accept Garmin's BC30 wireless camera which claims 45' range.

I wondered if anyone here had any experience with the unit.

Jim-
We have a BC-20, and used it in our mid-bath LD. I installed it on the inside of the rear window, on a pivoting bracket that allowed the shade to close when the camera was not needed. I took the 12V power from the "cigar lighter" outlet below the window. I found I had to hold the 12V adapter in the outlet with rubber bands, or it would pop out underway and the camera would stop working.
The camera worked pretty well. It's got a wide angle (as do many), so the rule is "If you can see something other than the toad, it's too close to safely change lanes."
The transmitter does best when it's near and facing the receiver. On our Garmin RV 760LMT unit, the receiver is mounted on the rear of the display. It was a straight line-of-sight between the transmitter and the GPS, mounted over the engine. "Your mileage may vary."
If you have other questions about the camera that I might answer, just let me know.

While using Garmin's BC-30 seem to be a good way of adding a backup camera, it is missing infrared LED illuminators, what I consider to be an essential part of a rear view camera.
When pulling the toad at night or backing into a dark campsite, nothing beats the LED illuminators for lighting up the toad or spotting things you don't want to back into.
BTW, window glass very effectively blocks infrared, so do not mount an LED camera inside, if you want the benefit of the infrared illuminators.

Thanks to Larry and Mark for your replies.

Larry, that is a good point although we try not to park or drive the rig at night.

Mark, do you have a photo of the bracket and where you installed the camera you could share?

Jim-
I have posted four photos in an album in the "Photos" section. I thought I may have had a close-up that shows the bracket attached to the rear of the valance, but I didn't.
