We've entered a cold period in the DFW area with nightly temperatures in the 20's in some areas.  Margee and I continue to be grateful for the patience that LD owners have shown us as we prepared our LD for winter.  As I mentioned in a recent post, we followed all the winterizing guidance in the manual in addition to guidance from the experienced faithful.  We prepared our LD as if we were spending the night to include closing off the cab area, installing the Styrofoam inserts and LD snap-on covers.  Since we have 15 amp service in our storage spot, we are also running an electric heater on a low setting which has kept the interior well above freezing.  We opened all the cabinet doors that contained plumbing just to keep the dry pipes warmer.  We placed a trickle charger on the engine battery and connected it to the outside electrical socket by the entry door.  Our 27' Home-on-Wheels is housed under a 32' cover which offers her protection from hail, sun, and rain.

It gives us comfort to know that despite freezing cold temperatures, our Home-on-Wheels is as safe as we can make her.   I doubt we would have be able to secure our LD as I have described without your help.  If you are in the DFW area and need help, you call and we'll come.

I think I can speak for at least most of us when I say we are delighted by your enthusiasm and the great new home you two have given to the former BluCon.  Thank you for the offer of assistance when in the area of DFW.

However, the most important thing you have shown us by your posting today is that you two are safe from the weather that has inflicted itself on your area.

The weather and storm related tragedies in and around DFW are truly overwhelming.  So many families hurting, so many lives destroyed.  Let's not ever take our good fortune for granted and remember to stay close to those we love.

Amen, Tina!  I've learned a lot vicariously from Ed's questions to the group, & the "travelogue" of their maintenance journey is such fun to read.

My sister is at Argyle (teaches at UNT) & her kids are at UT-Austin, my son is at Copperas Cove (posted at Ft. Hood), so ya'll (Ed & Margee) will be on my look-up list the next time I head down that way--definitely want to put faces with the names that have given many smiles & a few LOL guffaws as I've read along.
