LD owners who've bought more than 1

I'm thinking of a new MB though my '02 is perfect at 52k miles.     Lots of upgrades, new interior paint, fixtures, shades, etc.

I understand someone who owns a older model wanting something new.     Newer MB's (at least online) look similar to what I have so other than mileage, there is little I can't upgrade to.

I'm trying to understand motivation for anyone purchasing the same model LD.

I never bought more than one, but a quick read through Andy's list of changes tells me a lot.
The major change for me after the 2002 model would be the dual-pane windows beginning in 2003.

In 2005 they went to a 5-speed automatic trans.

2007 saw a huge number of interior and exterior changes.
In the 2008 model they increased the legroom on the mid-bath by 3". A significant change for many. The brake rotors were increased from 10" to 13" and traction control was added. Another big change was the increase in the aluminum roof thickness by 30%.

In addition to the mechanical and equipment upgrades over a 14 year period, I've often asked myself if I wanted to continue maintaining an older "whatever" or did I want to buy newer with the prospect of it lasting longer.  For DW and self, our motivation usually starts with the cost of the the newer "whatever".  For example, if we could get a 2016 LD for $1,000 more than our current LD, then I'm all in.   If I could get a 2016 LD for $100,000, we're folding.  The motivation in this situation involves the amount of satisfaction one has for their current "whatever" and the prospect of how much it would cost to overcome that satisfaction.

Take care

One item I didn't notice in the list was the year they went with the new model solar controller.

We had an 05 26' Island Bed which they discontinuned that year, might have been the last one off the line.  Bought a new 2013 mid bath which we love.  We couldn't believe all the new features and we love the new shades the best.  In order to get them to fit, Steve had to redesign the cornices so it's not an easy upgrade to do yourself.  Upgraded kitchen and bath faucets, the solar panel is much better so you don't need 2 of them.  The kitchen hood fan is slightly quieter, the bathroom has a smaller mirror so they could add a medicine cabinet (something many have done themselves).  There is also a cabinet above the mirror for towels which the '05 didn't have. There are other things but truthfully I can't remember them all now.  Your 2002 is already 13 years old.
Enjoying our 2013 MB,  our first was a 2005 26'IB

Your 26' Island Bed may not have, but the Midbath models have had a cabinet above the bathroom sink for many years.

I know of at least four solar charge controllers the factory has used over the years--RV30, HPV22, HPV22b, and 3000i--but I don't have information about when the changeovers occurred. If anybody knows, please let me know and I'll add that information to the "Changes" document.

The Changes List I looked at stopped at 2013.       Is this a current list?   Is 2014 and 2015 somewhere else?

Per Todd at LD, there were no changes of substance between the '14 and '15 model years.

Don't know about 2013, but Todd from LD told me there were no changes of any substance from the '14 model year to the '15.

It's as current as my knowledge permits, but that may not be entirely current. Here's the thing: it's not as if somebody at the factory emails me each year to say "Here's what's changed." (If I were Lazy Daze, I'd be featuring that on the company website: "New for 2015!" But they don't do that.) Yes, they publish a new spec sheet every year, but if you've seen those you know it's not practical to compare all the fine print word for word... and changes like the new (ugly) medicine cabinets don't get mentioned in the specs.

So the only way I know something is new is when somebody tells me. In other words, the "Changes" list depends upon the information posted here or emailed to me. If anybody knows about changes post-2013, let me know and I'll update the list.
