Transfer relay boxes are not that hard to change and are commonly available. It would be a good time to install a Progressive Industry EMS-HW30C since the transfer switch's output wires need to connected to the surge protector. T he EMS-HW30C has proven to be very dependable and can be repaired, if hit with a huge surge, such as a nearby lightening strike.Larry https://www.flickr.com/photos/lwade/collections/72157603770063511/

Reply #5 – December 10, 2015, 12:02:55 pm Yahoo Message Number: 157502I have used the portable 30A SurgeGuard for 13 years and it has served well. I have thought about the convenience of a hard wired unit, but it's an expensive replacement of a paid for device ($300+). The hardest part about using the portable device is remembering to stow it before breaking camp. My rule is that once it's disconnected the device does not leave my hand until its stowed in the LD.Chris
