Another LD With Paint Corrosion November 14, 2015, 03:20:30 pm Yahoo Message Number: 156973I saw another conversation regarding paint bubbling and corrosion. That person had multiple areas. I only have one. I posted two pictures in the album "2002 MD Paint Corrosion". There are actually two holes that have developed. This is disturbing. Is there any point of contacting the factory? Anyone have any suggestions?Glenn Lambert Redford, MI 2002 MB

Re: Another LD With Paint Corrosion Reply #2 – November 14, 2015, 04:07:04 pm Yahoo Message Number: 156975I have an '03 MB and had corrosion on the exterior by the refrigerator access door and by the entrance door. I called the factory and they said the corrosion indicated water was getting behind the siding. They repaired it last year and indeed there was some rot and they made it like new. I really don't know who else could do the repair except a skilled handyman. It was expensive, and it will take years to know if they did a good job, but I couldn't figure out who else to call. The factory claimed to be unable to determine how the water got behind the siding. I do wonder how many other LD had a similar problem.Doug

Even though the placement of the corrosion is not a place where water damage might occur, Vince still says it's probably caused by water damage. He reaffirmed what I already knew - Michigan winters and road salt are brutal. The "plan" is to probably drive out to Lazydaze next year with a list of other items to repair, drop it off and fly back to Michigan. When it's completed, fly back to pick it up.Glenn Lambert 2002 MD Redford, MI
Re: Another LD With Paint Corrosion Reply #5 – November 18, 2015, 06:55:36 am Yahoo Message Number: 157047Our 98 30' had the same bubbling. I suspected serious rot and took it to Vince at the factory. Turned out that everything from 8" e the roof down to and including some of the floor was rot. Some very wrong work had been done some time in its past, allowing for widespread leakage. It wasn't cheap, but everything from the interior wall paneling out is new: framing, insulation, new aluminum/wood veneer panels on the side, exterior paint, some compartments...we have lived in it for the past year and a half, and we love it. Have traveled many, many wonderful miles... The factory is the only place to have that work done. Tell Vince hi from Pete & Frederika. All the best, P
