Cell phone reception on the road

My wife has an iPhone and I have a Galaxy S4.
I've noticed her data and phone coverage has a much greater coverage than mine. She's able to place calls and go online while I can't.
Just checking if other's have experienced this.

I ran into this situation with my galaxy note 3. Eventually after a factory reboot I ended up with Verizon replacing my phone. It was all very annoying and inconvenient. When all was said and done I think that rebooting or replacing it was better than it was. My belated guestimate was I had some sort of ap or virus that was interfering with my signal.
Art and I now get about the same strength - he has an iphone, but he gets emails from family and texts and breaking news faster than I do Sandy KalleAnka Vt Now in Mississippi traveling to the natchez trace and stinkinjims campground tomorrow. Can hardly wait

I think the carrier you use has a lot more to due with reception than the kind of phone you have. I also noticed my IPhone 4S has better coverage than my old 3GS phone had, but I attribute that to the 3GS phone coming out of my pocket and hitting the ground at 45mph on my motorcycle. If you want the best coverage you have to pay, as Verizon is the most expensive with the best coverage. Someday I hope a cost effective cellular carrier comes along with good coverage. A Wilson amplifier with a good telescopic exterior antenna that can be aimed at the nearest tower makes a big difference. If you raise the antenna a few feet above roof level you can get coverage where others can't.

There are many factors that effect cell phone reception in our LD.  Cell phone type may be an issue but I think it more location of said cell phone then type.   My wife and I both have the same type of cell phone - Nexus 5.  One of us could be getting 4g and the other no signal at all.   Frankly our LD, because we are surrounded by metal i.e. Aluminum, makes a very good Faraday cage.  http://www.faradaycage.org/ The other issue can be distance from transmitting cell tower - the driver could be just enough distance away to get no signal and the passenger just close enough to get a signal.
Another issue is frequencies.  Some are better at traveling longer distances then others.

We have CREDO which uses the Sprint network. So we are on the same network.

Also new frequency bands are being added to the mix of cellular frequencies all the time. For example, with the release of the iPhone 6S just a few weeks ago, Apple added what is called LTE Band 12 700 MHz (and several other bands) to their products.

This specific 700 MHz band is being deployed widely by T-Mobile, to massively expand their coverage.  If you have any other model than the very latest iPhone 6S (not the iPhone 6 or earlier), you will not have this band available.   Needless to say, this is why T-Mobile has been pushing so hard on the newest iPhone 6S models.
