Bill, Just just read your post about your future plans to tour NL. As you read I have been there via motorhome more than 25 times over 30-years. We even had a summer home in Portugal Cove from 2005 to 2011. Alex & Brenda Rutchka stopped in for a visit several years ago.
I see you are in industrial refrigeration. Have you ever worked with Don French, owner of Provincial Refrigeration of St. John's? He is the brother of a very good friend of mine.
Anyway, you can call me anytime if you have questions about your future plans.

Mike,

No, I didn't have occasion to meet Don French.  I worked for Young's Refrigeration when I've been up there.  They operate out of Lethbridge.

Thanks for the offer of help.  I've stashed your number for later reference. Right now going up to NFLD in the RV is more a bucket list item than a plan.  I have a nice, small farm that is pretty hard to leave for long periods, especially in the ideal season for traveling to NFLD.

In your post you talked about the best time to visit, which I agree with. One thing you may not have had occasion to experience was that in the summer, rental cars are almost impossible to get.  I usually went up in late April or early May, but my last trip I went up mid-June.  The contractor had to loan me a company car, which they left at the Gander airport for me so I'd have a way to get up to Fogo and back to St. John's when I was finished working. There wasn't a rental car to be had!
