Lug nut covers 2001 MB June 18, 2015, 06:19:14 am Yahoo Message Number: 153389Hi. I'm fairly new here. Been lurking, gathering info and learning about my new to me 2001 MB. We found the gem through this forum and met some really lovely folks who owned the coach before us. They took amazing care of the LD and we are tearing it up! We had new tires put on recently and on our first trip out the 2 lug nut covers on the rear tire came off. The hubcap was held in place by the valve extenders. At Auto Zone we found some random lug nut covers to hold the hubcap, but the valve extender had unknowingly come loose. Next stop, flat tire. Grrrrr. Cuss cuss. So, after much searching I find this has happened to others and that the current models have lug nut extenders to hold the lug nut covers in place. Our 2001 has very little thread to attach these lug nut covers. But after searching I can't find how folks have resolved the problem with these short bolts. Will the current lug nut extenders and covers fit an older LD? If so, where do I find these items? Re: Lug nut covers 2001 MB Reply #3 – June 19, 2015, 02:03:05 pm Yahoo Message Number: 153429Tanya, I may be wrong on this, but if I read your post correctly you have what must be one of the few LD's that were equipped with one of the "not so good idea" wheel covers. I had a late 2000 Lazy Daze with these and when I asked pretty much the same question you are asking many years ago, all I got were responses about adjusting the lug bolt extenders just like you got. Unless I'm wrong, you don't have any extenders and the short lug bolts make it VERY difficult to mount the covers properly. I finally gave up and left the front covers off, as they were the more problematic on my rig and with much pressure on the covers was able to get enough threads on the back ones. Shortly after our rigs were built, LD went to a new design that used the lug bolt extenders, which is why no one understands your problem. My final conclusion was that I would buy lug bolt extenders (available at most tire dealers) and enlarge the holes in the wheel covers to accomodate the larger bolt size and then try to find some matching fancy nuts to hold them on. I ended up selling my rig before I did any of this, however, so I can't tell you how that would have worked out.Good luck,Rich - Former 2000 MB, now Montana 5th wheel

You do have to enlarge the holes in the wheel cover. I did call Lazy Daze and they told me I had to drill holes for the extenders, just as Ray described in his post. So, for now I've done nothing. I have mismatched lug nut covers. Tanya
