Replacement Sewer hose June 14, 2015, 07:51:55 pm Yahoo Message Number: 153332Hi all,I'm thinking of replacing my Rhino flex sewer hose. The one I currently have does not fit in the sewer hose holder of my 2002 27.5 MB. I am looking for suggestions of a hose that does fit. Any suggestions at which brand I should buy and which I should not. Also, what length of hose do you carry? Thanks in advance,David
Re: Replacement Sewer hose Reply #1 – June 14, 2015, 08:36:21 pm Yahoo Message Number: 153333I've always used Valterra "EZ Coupler" hoses and fittings; the fitting is a thread-on type, but it fits tightly and doesn't require a stainless steel clamp. If one is wary of leaks without a clamp, a tie wrap works well and doesn't hang up in the hose holder. The hoses are sturdy and puncture-resistant, and I've never had a problem with the wire cutting through the hose. I do rinse off the hose exterior to make sure that no little rocks or whatnot is trapped in the folds to abrade the hose.I carry an extra set of hoses and fittings and a dump gate valve; "Bladex", also by Valterra. The Valterra website shows all their products, RV sewer stuff and other.Joan
Re: Replacement Sewer hose Reply #2 – June 14, 2015, 10:13:53 pm Yahoo Message Number: 153334David,Ah, the things I have done to get my preferred fittings on the longest rhino hose that'll fit in the factory built in hose storage on my 2011 24FL.1. I bought a Rhino hose kit that had 2-part screw together detachable fittings. This allows the use of the 90 degree sewer end when needed. (Stored elsewhere when not in use.)2. Collapse down & push and twist the bare-naked rhino hose as far as it will go into your hose storage compartment. Mark excess, extract hose and cut off.3. Screw on an angled clear fitting on the rig attachment end. (Really, you can use a screw on fitting even though Rhino twist is opposite--make sure you get it all the way up the fitting threads to prevent leaks.) Prune off the most prominent of the 4 hooks on the fitting so all will fit behind latched hose storage door.4. For extra security, install 2 small screw eyes (closed loops) diagonally across from each other so you can adjust a small bungie across the face of your stowed hose & fitting to keep it in if the door pops open. How did I figure this out? I parked the rig at a Camping World, consulted...purchased...tried on rig in parking lot...returned 1st attempt. ..repeated until I found a set-up that fit & did what I wanted. Why the clear fitting at the rig end? So I know when done dumping and flushing tanks. Why a Rhino hose? As a solo, I find it holds its position with far less fuss & effort. Why the 2-part screw together Rhino 90 degree sewer end? Much easier to attach & detach than the red screw in 90 degree fitting I used to wrestle with.Hope that helps.Lori Y 2011 24FL
Re: Replacement Sewer hose Reply #3 – June 15, 2015, 09:55:51 am Yahoo Message Number: 153335A P.S. to my previous post: I use a standard 10' dump hose. The Valterra hose (with fittings) compresses to fit into the hose tube of my TK. I have never carried or used a longer sewer hose.As ever, YMMV.Joan
Re: Replacement Sewer hose Reply #4 – June 15, 2015, 12:32:40 pm Yahoo Message Number: 153339We have an 06 30 foot. The Rhino hose we have never got cut that I recall to make it fit in the tube provided. What we do is leave the black latching ring screwed down on the hose somewhat and ensure the entire hose is compressed before sending it into the storage pipe. Without the black ring I would never get the hose out again. Depending on how far you screw the ring on is how much extra hose can push the door open from inside. Easy to find the sweet spot. We carry the far end hose bits in a big ziplock for when we really want to set up into a threaded dump pipe. Most that we come to don't do that so a naked far end is convenient to that kind of dump station. Another ziplock carries the near side Rhino part. Threading it on when dumping doesn't take very long. We to carry a clear extension to see when the tanks rinse clear.Keep all of the stuff in a crate above valves.Hope this helps you keep the Rhino
Re: Replacement Sewer hose Reply #5 – June 19, 2015, 10:02:19 pm Yahoo Message Number: 153446David: We use the "blue one" (sorry, I cannot remember the brand name but readily apparent by color) which has given us great service over our eleven years or LD'ing. Yes, I have replaced ours several times to be on the safe side. Rubbing and scraping do take their toll as we are on the road five to eight months of the year (not so much in 2013 owing to medical issues). We use the 17' hose and have rarely found a place where this size does not work.I love the look of the Rhino and wish like heck it fit.Bob in Florida (currently in cooler NC) SE 5 30IB AE

I understand 30IB is a 30" Island Bed, but what is the "AE" designation. Also, to anybody--saw the pic of the LD in Japan--would love to hear the story of how it got there (is there an amphibious model I've not heard of?)...Lynne LDy Lulubelle Lilly, 4-Legged Alarm

Re: Replacement Sewer hose Reply #11 – June 21, 2015, 11:24:33 am Yahoo Message Number: 153463Lynne: I don't know the duration of the Japan model run, but LD was exporting the older "narrow body" version of the 23' models on the E350 chassis to Japan as late as 2006. In October of that year we placed our order for our 2006 TK, which for several years had been a "wide body" on the E450. As a newbie to RVing, I was apprehensive about driving a vehicle that wide and I asked about the narrower models I had seen in their storage area. I was told those were for export only, to Japan. It would be interesting to know how many and how long they exported these. But, for sure, there's more than one! -- Jon

Kathy and I made the "mistake" of visiting the factory for some minor issues with our '99 RB and saw the AE's being set up for display. We were hooked - the last hurrah so to speak! We picked ours up in February of '07 and love her. She has taken us to many places in the US and Canada with 67K on the odometer.Bob in Florida (Currently holding up in the NC mountains to avoid the heat) '06 IB AE Named "LIVHARDO" (Live Hard - Die Old) {:>)
Re: Replacement Sewer hose Reply #13 – June 21, 2015, 06:34:56 pm Yahoo Message Number: 153471This is interesting to me because the LD you describe is the model I have. It has some limitations compared to the E450's but also some advantages. I can't imagine driving an RV in Japan, where would you park it? Would love to see a picture of a Japan model. Bet they went for a ton of money over there.bobmoore14
