It is a flush mount, brown detector that will fit in the hole your present detector was in. Available from Amazon for about $62, a Marine technologies 30-442-P-BR. Propane and other explosive gasses are heavier than air and settle low. More easily detected near the floor, this detector is best mounted near the floor. The carbon MONoxide detector should be mounted on or near the ceiling. A result of incomplete combustion the CO gas could be warm and accumulate near the ceiling. This model, ARIKON Battery Powered LCD CO Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Alarm Sensor Detector -White, is also available from Amazon for about $12. It will cover up those two ugly holes in your ceiling.
