Photography (how to s)

My knees have not allowed me to go backpacking for many years.  But I still keep track of some things by reading "Backpacker" on line even though I no longer subscribe to the mag.  This month there is an excellent article on how to take better night pictures, "How to Photograph Stars & Night Skies" (http://www.backpacker.com/skills/photo-skills/how-to-photograph-stars/).
Most of the suggestions do not require an expensive camera.  They might require you break out the owners manual to adjust specific settings.  If you don't have a tripod a back pack or even some leveling blocks along with something to act like a shim most often can fill in.
Enjoy.

PS For those of you out west and willing to wake up in time (not just early, but real early) there is an eclipse.  http://wtop.com/science/2015/04/look-up-brief-total-lunar-eclipse-to-grace-the-sky-saturday/
