Replace flooring April 02, 2015, 02:03:24 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152049We had a water pump leak so had to remove carpet and are thinking of replacing with vinyl planks, but found that there are large bolts that stick up. Might be easier to replace with carpet. Does anyone know of an installer in the ventura county area. Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android
Re: Replace flooring Reply #1 – April 02, 2015, 02:47:33 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152050You can lay 1/4" plywood down over the floor and router around the bolts (or an installer could do it). We did this before installing vinyl planks ourselves. Definitely prefer the new flooring to the old carpet. One thing that might not be an issue for you given your location - we live where it got below freezing during the winter. We winterized our RV for the season and had a small heater going through most of the winter (but not all due to a neighborhood power issue), and I've noticed there are some planks that have loosened at corners, presumably from the temperature extremes. Easy fix, but could be an annoyance to some.

Re: Replace flooring Reply #3 – April 03, 2015, 06:55:38 pm Yahoo Message Number: 152068When we replaced the carpet with engineered wood, we found the propane tank bolts setting above grade. Our fix was to countersink flat head plow bolts and a washers that would lock the bolts in place. The washers were modified to lock the bolts. To keep the washers from spinning we screwed them to the floor. The countersink holes were then filled with glue. We would have used elevator bolts, but could not get the length we needed; 3 ½".If you want to see a pic, let me know.Tim
