Service locations for E450 in SF Bay Area
Yahoo Message Number: 151667
Hi all, The Ford dealer service location (Henry Curtis Ford, Petaluma) I usually take my 26.5 MB to for service just informed me they no longer do RV's! Not sure if that's a long term situation, but now I need a new place to go. Petaluma is about 50 miles north of me and the place they recommended is another 10 miles further. Looking for someone a bit closer.

Any Marin, SF or Peninsula garages to recommend?

Thanks, David G.

We've been happy with family owned Bruce's Tire in San Jose . They also do automotive repair, brakes, etc. They have several shops other shops too.    http://www.brucestire.com/index.htm Wendy

i use Ford Trucking in Oakland. They mostly do fleet work, but treat my gypsy with care. Randy is great to work with.

Thanks for the Oakland recommendation Crystal. It's a strong future possibility. Do you have an idea of what they charge for a basic service? (oil change, multi-point inspection) Ford was around $140.

An update to my attempt to bring the rig to Towne Ford in San Carlos, CA. I say attempt because after telling me over the phone they would do it, they said no when I got there. Seems even though I explained I was 26' long and about 10' high, when they saw it, they said Too Big. Apparently they thought I was bringing in some sort on mini camper. Telling them that I knew they have done other LD's, he then said they were not allowed to service them anymore. Apparently they have caused damage to other rigs costing them thousands. Can't say I was surprised at being refused. When I made the appointment, the service rep seemed a bit slow about what I was asking. This was the same story at the Petaluma Ford Service Center.

On the plus side, they recommended another place, and as I was standing in the office, they phoned with still another suggestion of Peninsula Trucking Repair. The first place they suggested could do the service (65,000 mile), but not this week. I went over to the second place, and they took care of me right on the spot. Cost about $100 bucks more than Ford, but they didn't damage anything either.

And don't get me started on the rather poor service I got at Cordelia RV Center for my black tank installation and other repairs. I went there because I knew Tim Pease was service manager, and for the black tank, I wanted someone familiar with the rig. For any other work, go somewhere else. The work got done (well, most of it anyway), and it only took 7 weeks! (sarcasm).

Now I'm gonna have a beer.

Thanks for the Oakland recommendation...

--- Is the "Ford Trucking" in Oakland that Crystal refers to in her post the same as "East Bay Truck Center"?

Yes, It is East Bay Trucking.  Sorry, in my phone it is ford trucking.  They fawned over my lazy daze.  I can look up what I paid for the basic stuff.  I have to go get my parking brake soon and that is not cheap...unlucky to have the drive shaft type and it is shot!
