We have an 06 with 48K on it.The service rep asked if I wanted a fuel injector flush/cleaning done. Cost $169. I have owned several vehicles with fuel injectors and never had this done.Any reason to do it this time?Jim C

Todays gasoline contain injector cleaners as part of their formulation. If the injector do start to plug up, having them either replaced with new or professionally disassembled and cleaned injectors is a better path.If you want, adding Chevron's Techron once a year to the gas tank can't hurt. I buy a six pack of Techron every year at Costco, enough to treat the fleet. Never had a fuel injector plug up. YMMVLarry

Re: Fuel Injectors Cleaning Reply #5 – March 05, 2015, 04:27:34 pm Yahoo Message Number: 151475I've used Seafoam for years with excellent results. Everytime we take a trip I'll buy several cans and let it do it's snake-oil magic to the fuel system and helps to de-carbon the combustion chamber and valves. When we bought our LD up in LA, first thing we did driving home was dump 3 cans in the tank, and top it off. Just drive and let it do it's thing, and a fraction of what the dealers want to charge. They will basically flood out the engine and let it set maybe half an hour to an hour. Then restart the engine, and it smokes to high heaven for ten of fifteen minutes as it burns out the cleaner. Do it yourself while you drive. Best price I've found is Wal-Mart.Don

Re: Fuel Injectors Cleaning Reply #7 – March 05, 2015, 11:39:42 pm Yahoo Message Number: 151478yeah, I know, I can only relate to my own experience, which has been nothing but positive. From snow blowers and lawn equipment that would sit half the year, my outboard motor, my Triumph's that also sat all winter when we lived in the midwest, and my ritual of occasionally giving our newer fuel injected vehicles a dose of Seafoam when we take a trip. It's certainly not for everyone, probably some snake-oil formula, but it's just seemed to work for me for many years.Don
Re: Fuel Injectors Cleaning Reply #8 – March 06, 2015, 06:50:20 am Yahoo Message Number: 151480Don Sea foam is very good stuff. It cleaned up the carb in my Onan that had sit for I don't know how long. And I have removed enough engine heads to realize tnat carbon deposits are still a very real issue even with the newer gas. Additives vary greatly from brand to brand and grade to grade. The cheap 87 octane I burn often has no additives. I also seafoamed my truck engind before having the plugs changed at. 180,000 and they all came out with no problems. This was 2004 Ford with the 2 piece plug that often cause problems.

Re: Fuel Injectors Cleaning Reply #10 – March 06, 2015, 10:25:37 am Yahoo Message Number: 151482For the vintage of our recently departed '91 Mercedes, the maker recommended ONLY Chevron Premium grade gasoline. Our solution was, like Larry, to buy Techron in bulk at Costco and add it to the Arco gas we normally used every other tankful or so. Haven't used it in other vehicles - the old Mercedes Bosch fuel injection was much more likely to have expensive problems than more modern electronic ones, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for any vehicle anyway, new or old.Steve
Re: Fuel Injectors Cleaning Reply #11 – March 06, 2015, 10:57:34 am Yahoo Message Number: 151484A few years ago, our 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee started stumbling, shutting down at idle, wouldn't take fast acceleration, etc. Took it to the Jeep dealer and they said the fuel injection system needed cleaning. Big bucks. I talked to a friend who previously was a service writer at Jeep, and he said to run some Techron through it. After two tanks of gas it was running like new again. Now, I just add a bottle a couple of times a year. I am a believer.Dick
