New Jeep Renegade - towable?
Yahoo Message Number: 150610
I just got a copy of the Jeep Renegade user manual that states that the only way the 4x4 is towable is on a trailer (not a tow dolly).  Four wheels down: NOT ALLOWED.
Too bad------

Traditionally, 4X4 Jeeps had a two-speed transfercase, with a neutral position that allowed flat towing.
The Renegade Trailhawk does not have a two speed transfercase, instead, having a 9-speed transmission with very low gears and a low axle ratio. No true neutral for towing.

Jeep is not honoring it traditions. It once was American made and flat towable, now it can't be towed and is made in a Fiat plant in Italy.
Hate to think what the next generation of the Wrangler will be like.

As you said, too bad. The Renegade could have become a very popular toad in a world where suitable toads become scarcer everyday.
