We have a 27MB on order and have been wondering about the size of the cabinets in the galley. Are the upper cabinets deep enough for a standard 10inch plate or do you have to go to a smaller size? Any good tips on organizing the galley, other than keeping the heavy items low?

We used to use Corelle on-board, but after an accident in which a plate shattered on the concrete pad and little tiny shards flew everywhere, we got rid of them.  We continue to use them at our home base which has hardwood floors and carpets.

On-board our MB we use (hard) plastic plates and bowls in a square-round shape.  We have dinner-size plates which fit flat on the bottom shelf (cabinet over the stove) and luncheon-size that fit on edge on the top shelf.  We use 8 1/2" paper plates that likewise store on edge on the upper shelf (which has a generous lip).

Look for the silicone collapsing colanders and mixing bowls which if not too large can also fit on the upper shelf in the square-round shape and if you like to have tossed salads, look for a square bowl to work with.  The hard plastic square round plates and bowls can be found in Target and when in FL, can be found in Beall's.
