No. But look cool.  I may order a few to see how the look and work.

Tired of everybody having a key to your storage bins? We are all friends and would never steal from another LD.
It's those darn SOB owners causing all the problems.

The round key option also works but it's all just a deterrent since anyone with a screwdriver can pop open the locks in a few seconds. I'm surprised there isn't more thievery associated with this.

"Can the standard locks be re-keyed like a house lock?"

Judie

I doubt it and anyway, it would cost more to rekey the old locks than what it will cost to buy new locks with different keys. Keys can be bought inexpensively, in bundles, all keyed alike. Make sure to get the right arm length, LD uses very long arms on the bin locks. Arms many times can be moved from one lock to another.

Even with different keys, with a little persistence, you can still open a good percentage of the stock locks just by jiggling the key. Get the round-key locks instead, they present a small obstacle that might discourage a thief enough to move on to the next rig that still has the easy to open CH451 locks. There's plenty of opportunity out there, just keep them moving along to an more vulnerable victim. Survival of the fittest, RV Darwinism, whatever you want to call it, it's a tough world out there:-).

Security is just an illusion anyway, as mentioned before, a screwdriver can pop any of the doors open in a few seconds. Smart thieves usually prefer to open locks with a key and not by forcing the door.

I like the concept, but I'd always have to carry or wear my reading glasses.

I like Larry's comment.
While I might see some appeal in changing the locks, these tired old eyes would have a really bad time trying to read the numbers on those locks, and I would not have a prayer of getting them open in the dark.  If I made a change I would have to stay with a key system.
Here is another thought - if you ever lose your keys, a call to the mothership, or to another LD owner, will get you a key to open the system.  If you replace the locks, you are on your own.

Old eyes and arthritic fingers trying to manipulate tiny number wheels would take me right to that screwdriver Larry mentioned! Pop that sucker and be done with it!

As ever, YMMV!

With the key lock and all the keys being the same no one would think any thing if I walked over and opened the door and removed you ? ? ? ? ?. But if it were a combination lock I would look out of place with a couple of screw driver trying to force the door open.
On the other hand there is a lock company that makes a pad lock of this type that had 4 wheels; we used these on the jobs a lot. For some unforeseen reason they would sooner or later lose they combination setting and we had to go get a set of bolt cutters. Good by door.

We have been camping in RV's for over fourty years. Not even once have I heard of anyone having anything stolen from an exterior storage bin.
If you are carrying any high value items in a bin, you might think about carrying that item inside.

Based on my experience, this is much ado about nothing.

I had my worthless CH751 locks redone with the round security key type. Industrial Lock and Hardware specializes in replacing CH751 locks with the high security type. They assemble them custom for you and all keyed alike. They have a chart on their site you can print out to help you order the correct cams. Note that the cam length is from the center of the hole to the end, not end to end.

Their customer service was terrific and the locks arrived just a couple days after I ordered them. http://www.ch751.com

----- IF I thought it would be an effective theft deterrent to change out the puny "universal" compartment locks, these are the ones I'd get; they would deter the casual/opportunistic thief with the same mass market key that a bazillion other RVers have.

But, I am pretty sure that these locks can still be "popped" and the compartment door pried open. The end result would still be damage to the compartment door and probably the framing around the door. If some thief is determined to rip off whatever is in the compartments of my rig, I'd rather s/he use the key and not leave a bent compartment door, damaged frame, and a big hole where the lock pulled out!

As ever, YMMV.

Unless you can get locks re-keyed  for less than about $10 per lock, you may as well buy chrome tubular cam locks from Amazon for about $10 or less each.  Just measure the length of each old lock before buying.

Don't know that I would re-key the lower compartments unless it would reduce the key ring load or offer another advantage.
I don't have anything in the compartments more valuable than the body work to repair the Al body panels and paint.
The combination lock would let me have one less key on the key chain but it would also increase the number of places for a hiden - car key set.

Dido, dido. I did the same thing last year at Quarzsite. Love the locks from Industrial Lock and Hardware. The toughest part about changing them out is getting the Ch751 lock and door pull tab off. Like everything LD does, the locks are caulked in with a soft caulking. I used a razor blade to cut  the paint around the lock and then used dental floss to cut through the caulking. Even then it was tough getting the locks out.
