Oh, drat.  I'm still a newbie who foolishly didn't winterize before a cold snap--parked in the driveway/plugged into the house, I thought I could use space heaters (mid-ship/bathroom area, with cabinet doors/water-pump access panel open to direct airflow to what I thought would be the most vulnerable areas), to keep the temp around 50ish & save the propane for when I hit the road.  There was very little water in the fresh tank, as I'd not yet filled for the trip, but I figured there was likely some residual water in the lines & pump that needed protection.

Apparently I tripped a breaker in the night, because there was an icicle hanging from the lavatory gooseneck faucet when I went out to do some loading the next morning.  With 20/20 hindsight I put in some pink antifreeze.  Things thawed out, & there seemed to be adequate water pressure when I tested the toilet/faucets in bath & kitchen, & no erupting geysers.  However, in reading my manuals & online I think I understand there could still be leaks--especially if the pump cycles without anything (toilet/faucet) in use...which I think I heard.

I've not used the system since--the dog & I don't use much, so I just took jugs of water for flushing/etc. on the trip, but it diminishes the joy of LWALD if I can't use the plumbing properly.  I want/need to have a smarter brain than mine check things out.  I love reading all the technical discussions on this site, am amazed at all the cool stuff the DIYers accomplish, & have learned enough to know what I don't know & that I need help.

I will be in Denver next week to visit an elderly aunt.  I know there are some Camping World locations out that way, but CW service doesn't seem to get good marks on this site.  I'm wondering if some of the Colorado folks--or anyone else with suggestions--could help me out.  What are your experiences with CW...one location over another?  Are there independent RV servicers/shops that you use?  Is there a Larry Wade-type wizard practicing magic in the area (I would go to SoCal, but that's just not in the scope of this trip)?

Thanks for any and all responses.

Lynne, I will contact you off line with some suggestions here in the Denver area. Be aware it is going to be bitter cold here next week (check the forecast) and personally I would keeping your LD winterized for the duration of your stay here.

Lynne, I sent you a personal message with my phone # if you wish to call and discuss your visit. If you don't get that message, post a message here on the LD forum. I'll watch for it today.

Thanks, Chris.

Yes, I know it will be cold (ya'll are already sending us the leading edge, though it is deceptively sunny today), but the aunt is elderly & I have a need to see her--& the LD has rekindled a somewhat adventurous spirit that had been Edith-Bunker-stifled for several decades...so the dog & I will putter along that way, knowing we can stop whenever we desire, because we've got our own bed & bathroom with us.

I was planning to continue toting water in jugs 'til either spring or I went south--whichever came first, but hoped there would more likely be someone there with the knowledge/experience/recommendations to help me, than i've found out here in the boonies of north Missouri.  I never check Yahoo mail--I only come to Yahoo fir LWALD; my main email is:  rlbg dot greenhills dot net   &   phone is 660-646-1908.

Thanks, again.                    Lynne

Oh, duh--I just found this second message...but I not terribly technoliterate, as I don't know where to look for the personal message you sent.  I did post my contact info here a bit ago in a reply.  Thx, Chris.

I imagine Chris sent it to your email address.  So, if it doesn't show up in your regular email inbox, check your spam folder.

Hi Lynne:  I sure you will receive more current info. than I have, but just to provide an alternative for your consideration, I offer the following.  Upon driving our RV home from the mothership in 2012, we needed to stop in the Denver area for oil service.  On another board, I posted a request for info. like you, and was referred to Stan's Auto Service (970-667-6852) in Loveland CO, about one hour north of Denver.  They took good care of us, and were quite friendly.  They do RV repair work beyond oil changes, and this was evidenced by several RV units in their parking lot awaiting their turn.  Best wishes for a successful repair.

Thanks to all who have replied.  I had a great conversation with Chris Horst & we discussed the forecasts, available service options, & my plans to do the RV Boot Camp/Escapade in Tuscon in March.  The decision for now is to carry water/leave it winterized 'til Tuscon, where there will be a great meeting of RV wizards who can get me straightened out.

Many thanks...I do so enjoy this site & look forward to putting names with faces in the future.
