31 Island Bed AC/DC Converter Question October 27, 2014, 10:53:29 am Yahoo Message Number: 149194We took delivery of our new 31 IB on the 29th of September. We took a month to return home to Iowa. Coach worked great. Lots of nice improvements over our 2007 RB.My question is this, I note that the converter fan in my old 2007 ran very seldom and primarily in hot weather. The converter fan in the new IB runs frequently without regard to ambient temps. I have noted that it seems to runs most often when we are watching the 32" TV. I also note that the TV will run on 12 volt only power.I know that the converter fan will run when the converter in under 'Heavy Load'. My conclusion is that the TV is a Heavy Load.My question then, is this a common experience for folks having this equipment configuration? Thanks,Ken Hald 31 ' Island BedRed Rocket II West Liberty, Iowa

Many of the high power aftermarket converters have this noisy characteristic. Checks the power usage on your new TV. 32" LCD TVs use usually consume between 120-150-watts AC (8-14amps @ 12-VDC), depending on manufacturer and model. That's is a fair amount of power for the converter to produce, along with the other 12-VDC electrical power consumers such as interior lights, satellite dish, DVD, etc.If it really bothers you, other converters will fit, check with Randy at Best Converters for a quieter model. It only takes an hour or two for a qualified installer to change. You would also be able to upgrade to a much better converter at the same time. I doubt if LD will consider your converter's operating noise to be a warranty item.Larry

Fits in same space as stock converter and is very quiet. If you call Best Converter they can select proper model, size, etc. Just have old converter model and manufacturer info ready.
